Why Trump REALLY Cares About Flag Burning

Leeja Miller | November 9, 2025

You’re 30 seconds away from being debt free with PDS Debt. Get your free assessment and find the best option for you at https://PDSDebt.com/miller. | It’s for nefarious reasons, per usual. Trump’s latest executive order bans the burning of US flags despite the fact that it’s protected free speech thanks to Texas v. Johnson from 1989. Precedent is of course of very little worry to this regime.

I got 5 minutes into this video and was hit by no less than 3 ads – one from Leeja and 2 from YouTube. This shit HAS to stop! These INCESSANT fucking ads make this site almost impossible to use! (Maybe that's the point?) But I guess when you're always paying $24 million dollar BRIBES to the pissant "president," you have to run a shitload of ads to recoup the loss. 🖕🤬🖕

Don’t burn the flag, because a flag is a piece of cloth that very easily catches the wind, flies away, and makes something else catch on fire. Don’t burn it, because fire is fucking dangerous

I absolutely abhor burning of flags. It genuinely sickens me whenever i see it. I love my flag and i love my state (not american). But it infuriates me to no end that i also believe rebelling against the state, no matter how much i love it… is valid. And burning the flag is the highest form of rebellion outside of picking up weapons, so to me, it's technically the worst thing you can do without human casualties… And therefore… The highest form of legal protest. I have no idea where i stand on if flag burning should be made illegal or not. I obviously hate it with every fiber of my being, but civil discourse can only get you so far. Sometimes, your opponent won't just take a no to stop. The american civil war, the french revolution, the second world war.

It's pretty entertaining to see as a citizen from a country which had suffered under Operation Gladio seeing the exact parallels of imperialism happening back there.

Imagine a Trump regime, for decades, and that's pretty much what's happening in the global south

“It is the soldier , not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag and whose coffin is draped by the flag who allows the protester to burn the flag.”

Reactionaries worry a LOT about "tarnishment," don't they? It's the same argument as they made against recognizing marriage between same-sex people: somehow, Samantha and Mary being a married couple impaired the marriage of Brenda and Eddie down the street. I never once heard any of those people even try to explain HOW. For that matter, it's basically the same as Jim Crow laws against Black people drinking from the same water fountains as Whites, and the like—somehow, Rosa Parks' butt on a bus seat gave it (and the whole half of that bus) cooties. These people are weird!

Would be really funny to burn American flags outside of the US embassy. Flag burning is integral to freedom of speech so no problem doing that where i live

They're burning it out of disrespect, not protest. I don't think you've researched the topic and put all this into the broader context of what's going on all over the West with migrants flooding in all over. Normally, I'd be ok with flag burning as free speech, assuming you or your forefathers and their fathers have sacrificed something for this country. Then yeah, maybe you've earn the right to protest like that. But if you just friggin got here and your parents don't even speak the language yet, then hell no. You're not burning the flag. They're not burning it out of protest. They're burning it out of disrespect, not protest.

    Ms. Miller:
I enjoy your shows very much. There are a few things I would like for you to make comments about. I think you should mention Project 2025 and its effect on both Fearless Leader and the Republican party as a whole regularly. Other than Fearless Leader’s petty vindictiveness, he is following Project 2025 to a T. I’m sure you have read that the entire goal of Project 2025 is to establish a permanent conservative government. You know, a dictatorship.

This isn’t surprising, as conservatives, here and elsewhere, have historically always had difficulties with the concept of democracy.

You also must be aware that the Republicans in Congress and the Senate are not intimidated by Trump. They agree completely with him and Project 2025. Conservatives have always thought this way.

Conservatives have wanted to destroy FDR’s programs that benefit all Americans from the very start of those programs. Project 2025 is part of the conservative plan to completely end it.

The occasional statement from a Republican politician that they disagree with Fearless Leader and then proceed to vote the way “he wishes” is nothing more than theater to pacify us.

You might also remind people that every word out of his mouth, other than the words “the” or “and”, is a lie. Smiley emoji here.

I plan on harassing you with more of my crazy rants in the near future, explaining why MAGA exists in the first place, the economic and psychological reasons.

Unless you say, “Leave me alone, you creep.”

Man. I remember being in a US Government class and we were supposed to propose and get a bill passed in our mock congress. I forget what I proposed, but the other side went FLAG BURNING ILLEGAL. Citing cases and precedent and even how they'd feel if someone said they couldn't do something because it made them upset was utterly irrelevant.

Sad that we're right back at this when there's been barely any flag burning anyway. And that the SCOTUS is likely to buy into arguments of "But I don't like that!"

I saw your content for the first time tonight . The " second american civil war " video you did last year . That was 30+ minutes of confirmation bias. Not once did you mention antifa . You claimed that violence only comes from the right. Not to mention your misandry is quite obvious. Definitely not good content from this fake lawyer

Cracks me up that this Supreme Court could say anything about desecrating the flag when members of the court have been hanging it upside down, which is also “desecration.”

Really great Leeja, thanks. Here in Boulder, CO we have a pretty heavy presence of federal scientific agencies. NIST, NOAA, et al. Not long after Trump’s recent inauguration I watched as workers hung a huge American flag on the facade of one of the principal buildings facing onto a major street. Sad, I thought, that the regime is firing a lot of ernest, contributing civil servant/scientists but it’s all good if we paper over what is outrageous with the a symbol. Fuck the symbol. Do good things!

@18:08 "There is no alternative means of communication that would do the same thing without burning the flag." Now that's just a lack of imagination. There are lots of ways to desecrate a flag.

I agree with this and very much believe that burning a flag can be a very powerful political statement which must be protected. What I would caution the American left however is not to do what has been done here in the UK, and hand over the nation's symbols to the far right. We are living in a time when people are craving belonging and identity and for many people, including migrants who move to a country, a nation's symbols often serve that function. Don't let the fascists and alt-right loons monopolise these symbols, reclaim them and use them to stand up for a better, decent and just version of what your countries can be.
