Update, January 2022: the crossroads has been fixed, as so many folks hoped for, by turning one of the two approach roads and making a staggered junction. Accordingly, I've changed the title of the video to past tense!

What is needed is something akin to a red light camera. A camera that detects if vehicles don't stop for the junction and fine every driver that rolls throw it without stopping.

Lots of drivers in the background weren’t slowing down before crossing. The stop sign means stop, put your handbrake up and then proceed.

So many cars blew through that stop sign that I had to check the comments to make sure there wasn't some law in Britain that you can just ignore a stop sign if the road is visibly clear or something because I didn't think you would have filmed so many people breaking traffic laws at that one spot in a single day of filming. But I guess people just don't care about traffic laws or something?

But… There is an stop sign… I'm spanish and I know what this verb means. It's not the angle, nor a traffic light, you only need to stop, look both sides and then continue if you can.

What about installing a wall so drivers cannot see the road ahead, therefore have to stop and check.

I dont know why we dont use more speed bumps on the approach to stop signs like this, there's one here locally on a similarly angled road and it works… there's no choice unless you want to lose the axle on your car

I had this happen to me once with a pedestrian who was crossing the road while I was making a left turn at a stoplight. This was going on ten years ago, and I still get the shakes when I think too closely on what very nearly happened. It scared the everloving sh*t out of me. I had slowed down and was making the turn on the light, so it wasn't even reckless. I had the light. Driver-side door pillar blind spots are no joke.

It’s well known cross junctions are the site of most accidents. Councils constantly monitor accidents and adjust roads and signage accordingly. It’s the main reason UK roads are among the safest in the world
