Florence Foster Jenkins was widely considered to be the worst singer of all time, yet she experienced a very successful career including selling out New York’s prestigious Carnegie Hall.

She is the great exemple of decadence in the artistic world wich today became a rule.
Her sentence βPeople may say that I canβt sing, but no one can ever say that I didnβt sing.β is completely meaningless of course everybody can sing as everybody can try to do masonry or improvise as a plumber but the result is a disaster.
The difference is that before in the art world the composer who made shit didn't last long while she had the right to an audience to pay her, it's quite sad.
There is nothing glorious in this person, she deserves only the contempt of the dustbins of history

Anna Russel was a hit! Hysterically funny and couldn't sing a note.

And here we are, almost 100 years later, still celebrating her achievements, something that most of us will likely never see ourselves. Bravo!

She couldn't have been born in 1968.

Check out the singer Wing. There's a number of videos of her here on YouTube. Right up there with Florence I think.

She reminds me of Mrs Miller a popular bad singer from the 1960s who sang popular songs

"She lived in near poverty" until she inherited vast wealth from her father. The American dream.

This is FARRRR better than many people!! Even me some daysπ€£ This reminds me of an Andy Griffith episode where they were trying to get Barney to think his microphone and his voice was so wonderful and powerful, that he should barely whisper-sing his song for the Church Choir, and they secretly had Jim Nabors in back row singing fabulously, and they let Barney think that was his voice with his fancy microphone!!ππ

πππShe was a thousand times better singer than Jennifer Lopez and Paola Abdul and yet this lady who had a privileged voice compared to these two was still very famous and rich πππππ

The snippets played here are illustrative, but may not be comprehensive evidence. From the little that was heard, I honestly think her issue may have been she was just trying to sing outside her register. Any competent vocal coach should have been able to teach her the appropriate breath control and formation techniques to at least make her pleasant to listen to, if not necessarily with scads of range.

Your explanation was far better than the movie. The movie was cruel to her. Thank you.

I donβt think Florence was necessarily terrible. Sure, she was off key, but the kind of music that was playing in the background of her voice kind of made it sound comical but interesting. To me, the songs with her voice sound like something out of The Three Stooges.
