On the one hand: my heart dog was not a sighthound. She was a mix of working and livestock-guardian breeds. I miss her.
On the other: I have concluded that if one needed a good all-around working and hunting dog, the ideal would be a smooth saluki lurcher with some sled dog mixed in. (Hell, most salukis are in what I consider the ideal dog size range.)
