I like some of ratm songs and bought all of their albums until I started learning about the band members "especially tom" that they dont actually rage against any machine and want special treatment and money for being who they are. The whole "stick it to the man" thing is BS when you have made millions off capitalism

Their stupid fans (importantly) never understood the band were using them. The bandmembers with their producers identified a dumb and numerous demographic and pandered to it, and as a result were successful among that large group and became very wealthy. Morello is as fake as they come – he's an act. It's all an act.

Morello was working for the Machine before he was even in RATH. He worked for senator Alan Cranston, has a degree from Harvard in social studies. He wanted to be a part of the machine and he's done a good job of it.

Morello = performative. I mean, he is c a performer but hypocrisy is whack. Pearl Jam and other majors could have done real things but these greedy fucks drank the pool aid.

    "Rage Bait Inside the Machine"

By operating inside the machine, they’ve turned "rebellion" into a high-end consumer product. Critics argue this setup makes them the ultimate influencers of the "Leftist Aesthetic"

It’s the perfect business model: Spit on the hand that feeds you, but make sure the hand is recording so you can get the ad revenue.

They aren’t just fighting the system; they’re monetizing their hatred of it while sitting comfortably in its VIP lounge.

By using the system to fight the system, they are—by default—acknowledging its utility, efficiency, and dominance.

They believe the capitalist distribution model is evil, yet they rely on its superior efficiency to spread an anti-capitalist message.

The band relies heavily on Western civil liberties—freedom of speech, the right to assembly, and intellectual property laws.

Financial Realism (Capital as a Weapon)

In their 2022–2024 tour cycles, they charged high prices for "charity tickets."

    You can't be a revolutionary if you're a shareholder.

If a "revolutionary" lives in a multi-million dollar mansion, uses corporate distribution, and protects their private property, many argue they’ve traded their soul for the very lifestyle they write songs against.

Ultimately, they’ve mastered the art of being radically anti-establishment while being completely embedded in the establishment's media cycle.

Their legacy….they’ve proven that in the modern West, you can be a radical anti-capitalist as long as you are a profitable one.

right, so a band with one hit tries to make waves by talking S, and a typical Seattle "doorman" i.e. host/hostess (read inexperienced hipster with an attitude problem" , talk a whole bunch of shit, and the Rage folks be adults about it… yep such hypocrites yup.

Rage Against The Machine has done the more to increase awareness about many political issues and injustices around the world than any other band. The critics forget that these people are humans and don’t owe anyone anything. Politicians are supposed to serve the people and we should hold them accountable. However, artists produce art, in this case music, and that’s it. Hats off to RATM who use art for a just cause as opposed to other bands who glorify drugs, sex, suicide and satanic bs.

It sounds like Ol' Tommy M was gettin' too big for his own britches! Apparently fame and fortune can go straight to your head! I still will love RAGE tho forever even though they've become mega rich rockstars. Their musicianship is continually astounding and although Tommy was a prick to that Cafe, he can still create some of the most amazing Guitar Wizardry EVER!

Even if you can make an argument that the members of rage have become "rage on behalf of the machine" it does not tarnish the message of the art they made. Because the message transcends the artists.

Marketing revolution is dubious to begin with. Anyway, if you want the MONSTER corporate paycheck you're gonna dance where they tell ya.

The fact is that leftists have no real choice but to operate in the system they live in. It's like when people say Marx was never a worker. Who cares. These people have been fortunate enough to spread their message one way or another in this system, even using corporate means. Doesn't mean they don't want society to be better. If they were exploited workers, they never would have been able to influence millions of people in leftist ideas. Plus this rockstar gossip type of content is pretty low regardless of the topic.
