I WAS a big Sambora fan back in the 80’s and early 90’s. Saw him in NYC for Stranger in this Town tour. Small venue with some notable big time bands in attendance. Him and Jon are both ego maniacs. Jon just disguises it better. He knows how to act in the public eye. He’s smart. There is NO WAY he lets Richie back in. Richie is too volatile and Jon won’t let him taint his legacy.

He lost his mother, Jon's fans keep harassing him, and he was always respectful; he was going through a tough time. Anyway, alcoholism is a mental health issue, instead of questioning him, they should support him.

Why do people need to stop drinking if they are happily having an alcohol addiction? Is his drinking anyone’s business? I fucking love drinking cheers 🥂 😀

Richie did well to keep his mouth shut for best part of 10 years. Then the documentary came and probably changed everything. If he could have just shut up for a little longer I’m sure he’d be back in the band by now. I guess the doco just ticked him off a little too much and he couldn’t contain himself anymore. Sad either way. Any chance has truly been put to bed with his latest outburst.

I saw Richie last when he did a surprise secret show at bush hall in London 2021. Firstly the man is my absolute idol and has been my whole life, reason i play music and got into bands, that wont change. I saw him 2012 at sheperds bush, blew my mind! 2021, different story, he could barely get through songs, was forgeting ones hes played a thousand times. I just wish someone could help him, hes been here before around the lost highway days when his dad died 2007. As a fan, its hard to keep seeing this when he is such a talent who has given the world some of the best songs

In my humble opinion, I think Jon Bon Jovi's vocal health started to become quite evident during the "What About Now" album tour, OK? That's a fact! So, when suddenly, without warning, Richie Sambora decided to leave the tour months after it started (in March 2013), and since they were both "connected" to each other and vice versa, Jon unknowingly began to somatize, that is, the psychological impact on his vocal cords. For me, this is very evident, because during the tour for the new Bon Jovi album, especially in that performance recorded at the Palladium in London, Jon's voice is definitely not the same anymore. And, again, for me, it was worrying, to say the least. And this "This House is not for Sale" album tour lasted until 2018, a long time for someone who was already doubly burdened, with Richie's departure and the loss of his own voice. Then came the worst nightmare: the lamentable performances of the "2020" album, post-COVID-19 pandemic. It was very sad!!! So, almost 13 years later, I believe there's no possibility of Richie returning, whether for personal reasons or business reasons related to the band's career (not to mention John Shanks' presence), something that still bothers Richie Sambora a lot. In short, that "chemistry" that existed between Jon and Richie is gone, unfortunately. That's all, in my opinion.

In the same as Richie. When I have things on my mind as well as substance abuse I can’t control how I feel on social media. My mam died in 2024 and I took to drinking very hard. I couldn’t go almost a day without drinking. The only time I didn’t drink was before my work. But after my regular work I was in the pub nearly every night just downing beers, vodkas, rums, the lot. Even my family agreed with each other to not buy me alcohol for Christmas. I had suicidal thoughts n everything but what kept me going was the thought of my niece and nephew dealing with 2 losses. Yes everyone else in the family but those 2 are my world. And that’s what Richie has got to remember. There are people out there who love you, like me. I’m a huge Sambora fan. He’s the reason why I wanted to play guitar.

Sambora….. The music for Young Guns was going to a huge film. Your album, all be it fantastic, different style of music at the time.

It would be cool for Richie to put a new band together and play the old school Jovi songs live, the deep cuts and stuff Jon can’t sing anymore. It would be an interesting pivot from his solo stuff.

IMO, when you are this long in a band, you have some credibility, so John Shanks could not do anything that Jon wasn't already wanted to do it or accept it at the end. God knows how long that substance abuse was going on before this 2013 hiatus happened. We saw it first time seriously in 2007 on MTV acoustic set which was sad. In 40 years interview we saw that they could not have WAN recording sessions together to write stuff and record was done almost without Richie. It cross my mind that he could had left BJ after HAND tour to focus on his solo carrier but since it's easier that someone else run things when you are in condition that he was, he stayed. Anyways, he could have done miracles from 2013 and on wards with his connections and musical talent but instead he has done one collaboration album and several songs in 13 years probably because of the same substance abuse and the life he was/is living.

As for his solo records, none of them were pop, dance, alternative or grunge at that time which was popular in the 90's. He made one bluesy and one pop rock record in 90's and both
These Days and Keep the Faith were much stronger and musically more versatile records then his solo work. So, he sabotage himself by doing what he wanted to do. 🙂

Finally, bashing Jon again online and making inappropriate comments about his throat ain't gonna bring him any closer to the band. This is just gonna support Jon's decision about not doing any collaboration with him again.

Like any other famous band, Bon Jovi had it's time. Trying to replicate and rehash old success is poor judgment for any band. Old rockers should know better than anyone, what they were' once good at, was, and still is, a young mans game.

Growing up, Sambora was my biggest musical inspiration, I have lost all respect over the last few years. On a human nature level Steve Vai is my biggest inspiration….. Humble, grounded, disciplined and generous…… Look how Vai's mindset impacts his talent… Still as sharp as he was 40 years ago. I've always believed that Sambora was the musical and songwriting talent in jovi, although I acknowledge that it was the band that made the magic. Imagine what a force of nature Sambora would be now if he had Vai's approach to life driving him.
