If you look at the inside of a modern watermelon, just cut it in half, you can see the swirls where the weird segments used to be. It's pretty cool, actually.

5:48 mild nitpick but the Mayans didn’t worship Quetzalcoatl (that was the Aztecs), they worshipped K’uk’ulkan, but he was also a feathered serpent so they do have that in common
