HOW IRONIC that this thing we call "love" actually contains very little, if any, actual love.
In reality, it is mostly, depending on one's situation, pain, loneliness or bitterness.

What caught my attention and unsettled me is that he wrote 'attachment' when, in reality, what he refers to as attachment is rather ego and fear. What he talks about is having enough courage, maturity, and awareness to accept the reality that love is actually a simulacrum, it can change just as we do, and that based on that love we must be honest, brave, and look at things without the blindness of insecurity. In any case, what he would call attachment would rather be an attachment to fear, not to the person. To me, the word attachment refers to the act of creating a real emotional bond where you are vulnerable and that person has the power to hurt you, and because of that attachment, you can also suffer, you can feel jealous, or feel insecure. But that doesn't seem like a problem to me; in fact, it seems like something normal that always goes hand in hand with the act of loving something with total commitment, with devotion, with passion, with tenderness, with fear.

Of course, being aware of reality strips away idealization and, consequently, the prison of expectations, allowing us to cope with our lives and not sink into despair and emptiness. But denying real attachment, the real feeling, just to see things from a distance and avoid getting hurt seems to me, ironically, an attachment to fear itself. For me, feeling vulnerable is not a flaw of the ego; the ego can never completely go away, and neither can attachment—they make us human. Accepting them and living with them is an act of maturity. But when I say this, I am not justifying living in agony because of it, but rather having the strength to accept it and grow without denying or mutilating any part of yourself; being so great and brave that, without sacrificing your essence, you manage to elevate yourself and see the world in a better way, to be a more human being. The thing is, the word passion in its etymological root literally means 'to suffer.'

I believe in free love, I believe that fear is the true poison of love, I believe that insecurity and selfish expectations destroy love. I believe that we are solitudes, that we never stop being so no matter how much we are with someone else, and that we must always respect and accept that nothing is definitive. Love requires teamwork, patience and appreciation, solidarity, complicity, affection, fascination; it is choosing the same person every day and never ceasing to be surprised or to see them as something wonderful. But to what extent is denying the ego, denying attachment, not simply giving up the ability to have such profound bonds with another human being that go beyond imminent reason? Bonds of which it is impossible to be 100% rational, and therefore you could never 100% eliminate those feelings that can be painful. Because at the end of the day, we never stop learning, being ignorant, being afraid. But love is the disguise of pain, it is the ability to cope with possibility, because love, like life, is possibility: suffering, crying, laughing, loving, dreaming, and with it the possibility that it might disillusion or disappoint us.

But the courage to not give less, to not limit yourself, to grow so much that you touch the sky but with your feet firmly planted on the ground, to never abandon who you are or limit your spirit despite everything, is a risk, but it's worth it; it's called an opportunity when possibility is brave. We don't have to deny our ignorance and our fear; no matter how much we know and learn, we never stop always being children. We can grow more, but we shouldn't give up on love out of fear, nor on fear, nor on attachment, nor on ego, nor on what shapes us, because in reality, everything is a side of the same coin. If I love you, you can hurt me, but never destroy me, because my love is greater than you and me; loves counteract all. Happiness, like love, is not in one thing or in one person or groups of things and people; it is in everything that surrounds us and in how we decide to face it and live it. That is brave love, it is trust, it is self-confidence, it is loving even our own fear. And this was not written by a critic, nor a scholar, nor a philosopher, but simply by a deeply enamored individual.

2:23 this is what's really sad because my partner is not a narcissist, but doesn't really like hugs and all that. Ive been the devoted one for over a year at this point, to no seeming reward, and im having second thoughts.

I’m only twenty two with very minimal relationship experience like alot of others I feel as if I don’t know what love is this is my third relationship and I yet to have any answers, I don’t know if what I am feeling is love, or if what I am feeling is something so unknown, how am I to know it is or is not love. People say, “when you know, you will know.” But every time I thought I knew I clearly hadn’t.

This felt heavy but honest. The way u described love as growth, not comfort or validation, really explains why modern dating feels so empty. Kinda scary, but also reminds me why love is still worth the risk.

Roland Barthes decontructed the notion of romantic love perfectly. It's just a pile of hormones and linguistic/cultural narratives and discourses we aquired throughout our lives. Love, the way we perceive it today started with the Romanticism.

10:50 onward- Resonance has only really clicked in my head in the last 2 months of my life maybe. I feel like I understood it conceptually before, but to learn to live it has changed me so fundamentally I don't think I have words for it

Sometimes we might appear desperate, unbearable, unwanted. For all I know that's what I got from the modern dating world, and I'm not sure when it start to feel necessary and mandatory to actually date in order to love and feel loved. It's a hole I never wish for my worse enemy, a bait that keeps on feeding on itself waiting for a fish we assumed are useful, and functional on keeping us alive. Sometimes it's an endless casting for the perfect fish and sometimes it's an endless waiting for we fish in the wrong sea

‘Fall in love with life and then you’ll be happy’ is something I couldn’t agree more with. Ive been single for 6 years and am the best I’ve even been. I’ve had both wonderful and painful memories of love like everyone else, but the older I get I don’t really see why romantic love is so important when there’s so much else in life to experience ❤

    1 Corinthians 13:1-8

[1] If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. [2] If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. [3] If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

[4] Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. [5] It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. [6] Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. [7] It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. [8] Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

Social media trends joke all day on how it's impossible to find good men around as people ghosts/are not ready to commit and ecc.. forgetting the fact that people are deeply complex and everyone has their own history. I feel like social media lead us to believe that we are indeed in a world full of liars or lazy people that do no want to commit but the reality is that we are all suffering because of this level of superficiality.
I want to get back to square one and listen to the stories of those who fell in love sincerely and get inspired again. I feel I'm full of love and I would love to experience something like that with a partner on my side but I'm also afraid that nobody will ever understand me so deeply..

Love would be nice, but after over one thousand (I counted) rejections in an attempt just to get a first date, I can't deny the data that I'm unlovable – it's not a feeling, an opinion, it's data.

What I don't understand is how one is able to reach this point of total reflection. Like, are you 200 years old? How many heartbreaks have you gone through? The wisdom contained in these videos makes me imagine all sorts of horrific tragedies that led to these realizations. Thank your for sharing; may all of us make at least one less painful mistake each as a result.

so, esentialy, this is just a collage of parts of previus videos. And sufers from, what i wuld call, anticuated analisis of anticuated problems, there is maybe a single author i can point to that is not a postmodernist of the same way of Deleuz or Bouvair, in other words, old, more than 40 years late

God, what a gorgeous visual accompaniment you chose for this video! The vinatage-y floral footage, the fonts, everything creates this warm and fuzzy feeling that enhances the script even more. I was compelled to pay my full attention to it. Just wanted to say your efforts are noted and appreciated!

I was just thinking that channels like your's or exub1a's should write a book so that future filosophy majors can mention you on their subjects or even study you.
Definitely buying, when i have money ofc

    Some thoughts:

Love is directly tied with sacrifice and violence. See bataille and de sade for more. What most people describe as "love" is either a utility-focused relationship paraded as love by the necessity of the world, or, it's just "attraction".

Love is what happens when attraction meets sacrifice, commitment, and violence. Love is not a thing, it is culminated in action. As more and more young people get isolated, there is less action. As more young people become more addicted to online pornography and develop identity issues and fetishes, there is less action. When the core of modern identity is bastardized with tribal identity politics, there is less action.

It's very simple. People just don't want to sacrifice because they care too much about themselves. This is why it is necessary to become, at some point in your life, empty and barren as a human, to experience what its like to only have "other" things or people on your mind (in order to love effectively). This is why people with good conscious' and who have gone through violence make good partners that last decades: They know that violence is integral to this world, as only the strongest, by definition, survive.

The irony of all this is: the "perfect" ideal of love, with the bride and groom + kids later, the whole nuclear family fiasco, is actually based on the assumption that the man and woman will give everything for their situation to work (assuming there is true love present).

I tried love. I egregiously sacrificed for it and for my efforts I was ghosted. I knew this person for years. I am unsure if I have the capacity to even love a woman again. This is the only consequence of the above theory – not everyone thinks like that. It also doesn't help that a significantly large portion of the female population of my age range would rejoice in seeing someone like me being sniped in the throat. The irony of this is that I am a bataille reading skepticist agnostic athetist, but it doesn't matter. The ideological subversion project on the American people has been complete. I fear the only way to have a family now is to lower your standards for the mob. This is unfortunate.

The contents on this video is amazing. 25-12-2024. I had the worst Christmas holidays imaginable, the love of my life left me. my backbone, joy and my better half. We have been separated since then, with two kids, now she wants a divorce, my whole world is crumbling right before my eyes. What hurts the most is the fact that i was the cause, i was drowned with work and sometimes we do not communicate for months. I am a marine engineer, so it was difficult to stay in touch when I was absent, at first she could take it but later it kept creating a void. If you are reading this, never neglect your partner. I haven't been the same since then. I will do everything to get her back.
