OOOH Alex when you spoke about your metaphysics, it rang very familiar to something I'm working on!
I describe myself as a Christian, but I am not a spiritualist or a theologist
I have TWO religious beliefs. Things that I am certain of:
– Reality is real
– I'm experiencing it
I'm inclined to believe other people are real and experiencing the same Reality as me too xD
I doubt you'll see this, but would be really interested in hearing your thoughts on some things. Sent you an email, "The Parable of the Clown"

Wow, your reaction wasn't even bad. Just barely frustrated. These people are insane. You were just setting a boundary in a firm voice. Nothing wrong with that.

“What is a club in any case? Not the buildings or the directors or the people who are paid to represent it. It’s not the television contracts, get-out clauses, marketing departments or executive boxes. It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city. It’s a small boy clambering up stadium steps for the very first time, gripping his father’s hand, gawping at that hallowed stretch of turf beneath him and, without being able to do a thing about it, falling in love.”

Alex: You suggested, that infinities cannot in reality exist, and combined that with "the past does not exist, merely the present does". You know what the hell you did there? You just proved the immovable mover. A non existent thing, that creates reality.

July 30, 2026 at 11:01 am
You could even argue that confronting a frustration like that so honestly and directly is one of the most effective things you could have done to actually resolve the situation, both for yourself and for the external problem. Better yet, it takes a certain degree of emotional regulation and self-awareness to acknowledge a frustration, face it honestly, and actually try to fix the issue (without throwing chairs lmao). There was a reason you were frustrated, and you weren’t being unreasonable. You’re human, emotions and frustration is a natural part of that (having emotions = mightily resisting god?!)
Maybe there are some flaws in my argument and such, but I just felt the need to point out what seemed reasonable and sensible here.

On the emotivist issue: It's impossible for me to deny my sense data, because all I know is sense data. It's like tasking me to write an essay with pen and paper on the non-existance of pens and papers. Like an impossible move in chess. Humans just aren't able to believe that our sense data is inaccurate, up to a certain level, obviously we know we can be decieved or uninformed and the whole emotivist thing seems dangerous to me. If I was Alex I'd pair the emotivist idea with the idea, that just because something is socialy constructed, i. e. a prefreance of somebody to not be tortured, doesn't mean it's meaningless.

July 30, 2026 at 11:01 am
You can't expect a grifter to be honest, Alex. These people are incapable of separating ideas in their head. Your 'outburst' (which was entirely reasonable) was clearly about the audience member's manner and behaviour, not his argument, and for Craig to pretend otherwise is exactly what you'd expect from a lying charlatan. The guy's been touting his tired Kalam for years and still happily stands up at debates and rattles through it as if it's unimpeachable, when it's been quite obviously refuted by every debate opponent since he started. TBH I'm surprised you managed to drag out an entire event conversing about it (or as Craig would say, "debating – and losing"!)

Alex is way too naive. Most theists are bad-faith interlocutors and immoral people in general. Alex's channel has become almost exclusively interview-focused instead of being confrontational. Theists see things like that as a weakness.

33:00 Football clubs are companies, the fans support the companies through free advertisement and marketing, and paying them money, while they constantly exchange assets like players, managers, kits, etc. So yeah, football club fan? Supporting the company, and whatever billionaire owns it at the time

I totally get that you want to have polite conversations with people like William Lane Craig instead of fighting in debates, but right after that they go and say some shit behind your back to their audiences. Same story happened with Brandon from DDoW. They prove again and again that they do not interact with you in a good faith, and they do it with others as well – its just a fact. I have no respect for them for that reason. I am yet to find an apolegetic who is not that kind of person.

Alex, despite existing in a social space where exploring philosophy is looked upon as a form of madness however, for the structured highly religious society I was born into and have lived for my entire existence I cannot shut my thoughts and curiosity off. In a way my comfort zone afforded me lots of ease and respect, yet I chose the path of critical enquiry and recently self reflection and the confidence to pose my thoughts and analysis. However, I began running into the reality of the triumph of hubris and chauvinism in Western society in particular. I began to realise that despite our apparent ability to analyse many aspects of nature, I feel we get lost in the human imposition upon nature, including the essence of life itself. We go headlong into deep analysis regarding consciousness without much regard for the fact that we have no control about both the form and configuration of the essentials necessary for human life. Human names;..liquid water, human life formation from liquids and sugar bases, something we call gas, especially oxygen, sleep etc,in other words the essentials of life seem gifted to us without much conscious effort, and when we apply conscious efforts we do it poorly. Eg..breathing..usually autonomous without conscious effort, and we consciously try to breathe eg after being under water we do it poorly the list goes on. Maybe conscious human thoughts aren't generally beneficial and usually leads to harmful outcomes, just reflect upon the largest industries in the World, armaments and pharmaceutical, both destroying or relegating natural states. One is the great achievement of deleting human consciousness and the other convincing us that human well-being is not maintained by our bodies but by a bunch of external chemicals…maybe humility and doubting the validity of the majority of human conscious based actions is something to ponder

Doesn’t global emotivism undermine its own claim to truth? Global emotivism is in itself a (complex) proposition, thus it is an action, thus it is not true/false. What is the nature of this selfrelation of global emotivism? Sounds like a problem, no?

William lain Craig is either delusional or dishonest as an interlocutor. Reaching out to "win you over" or something it's very petty.

It was a strategic failing because they are always keeping score….. you are too nice Alex, you once admired Hitchens. While I appreciate your willingness to indulge you need to really shut these guys down Everytime you are on stage. Off stage sure have a beer and a good chin wag. But on stage you should be strident every chance you get for your position.
@gurugeorge
July 30, 2026 at 11:01 am
Just to make a small point against you, one doesn't obsess over a single topic in a conversation, that makes one a conversational bore. You really should have ranged further and wider in that debate, if you thought you were having a conversation.
Of course that's all a mask, and Craig only wanted to put up the "it's just a converesation bruh" screen to avoid more nitty gritty debate. Maybe he was just tired. But at any rate, you didn't exactly follow that formal framework.

You are right to express outrage. I say this because of a feeling. A feeling that intentionally acting like a feculent sack of damp weasel anus deserves a response; a direct and robust physical response. Also, youtube ad timing is impeccable. AO – "an emotivist would say…" YT ad- "have you been putting off buying a brand new LED TV?".

I find global emotivism really interesting, and I will certainly be thinking about it for a long time. Recently, I’ve been thinking about extending some ideas from emotivism to subjectivity, such that propositions like “That movie is good” or “That song is sad” would also lack a truth value because they express an emotion or some other mental state

July 30, 2026 at 11:01 am
Your experience with William Lane Craig highlights the exact problem I have with modern day philosophical thinkers, which is debate is seen more as a sport now than a pursuit of knowledge. And what's the problem with sport? It's very prone to bad sportsmanship. Since you talked about football and I happen to be a football fan, I'll use it as a rough analogy:
Debate now is like a football match in which diving, time-wasting, tactical fouls and intimidating the referee have become more important than actually playing football. If sport becomes more about winning by any means necessary, instead of respecting the spirit of the game, then what we're left with is competition stripped of meaning…
