Every band has borrowed from someone

Of course it’s eventually going to get to the point where everything sounds like a rip off of another song

We are seeing this in rap right now to

Their is a big bonus to being early to the party because you will always be recognized as the originator

"That was great because it got rid of all those guys with the hairspray and the leotards. Something was about to give, something had to give, the dam was going to break, and it did. And then Kurt came in like, you know, like a phoenix, you know, like he cut them down like wheat before the sickle…you are DONE. A very talented man, a very honest man. I loved him, he was amazing." -Tom Petty

“It’s a terrible thing that this guy didn’t get to live his life and enjoy his time on earth more. And I think that’s because of the people around him, and I don’t mean JUST his wife, ALL of the people around him. He made too much money for too many people and became too valuable too soon. He had to die, and that’s how it works, and it’s not nice.” -Iggy Pop #JusticeforKurt

Silverchair was 100% guilty of this too.
It was straight up bizzare how people would even try to deny Daniel Johns was trying to look and sound exactly like Kurt Cobain. Fair enough he was a teenager when they started and most teenagers try to emulate their idols, but people act like the comparison was just plucked out of thin air

As much as i loved nirvana when i was a kid, kurt cobain being the reason i started playing guitar, they were great but they are so massively overrated.

Pixies were better and wierder and there are so many other amazing bands..

Kurt was a great writer though hes one of those artists you could give two crayons to and hed come up with something great…total less is more type

Okay, I feel like the criticism of The Jins in this is a bit unfair. They genuinely have lots of variation, Ben looks vaguely similar to Kurt Cobain and The Jins is a grunge band, but The Jins has a distinctly different sound to Nirvana and has so much variation in their music.
