Earth may seem like the perfect planet for life, but huge parts of our planet are actually hostile deserts of ice, rock, heat or darkness. Even our oceans are mostly barren voids where almost nothing can survive. But as we discover and research more exoplanets, we are beginning to wonder whether there could be worlds that are far better suited for life than Earth ever was, and where ecosystems flourish on a scale we can barely even imagine.

Could there be a Super-Earth that is not just habitable, but truly ideal for life? What would such a world look like, and what kinds of creatures would we find there?

Hey Kurzgesagt, I've been a huge fan of your work since the very beginning. I'd love to support the channel by purchasing products from the Kurzgesagt store, but as someone from India, I've found the available payment options quite limited. It would be amazing if more international payment methods could be added in the future. I believe many fans from India and other countries would really appreciate it.thank you so much

So, Hestia is far bigger than earth, right? So technically each of its islands are essentially the same size as most continents on earth, resulting in a lot of deserts? Also, if there are no deep oceans, the planet will simply dry up in a few billion years, no matter how perfect you might make it seem on the celestial level. The deep trenches serve as ways for the planet to hold quadrillions of gallons of water.

As far as the sentient life goes, they would simply enslave each other, especially if they're not the same species. Look at what our history contains and remember we're the same species.

Did not hear any mention of Hestia needing its own Jupiter… which neighbors are keeping planetary bodies away? Also no mention of stable lunar bodies to regulate seasons..

you shouldnt make earth water level so at surface level.
    it will vaporize
to continue life on these kinds of planets you need massive body of water if not it is not sustainable

Yeah, but does the amount of energy required to escape the gravity of earth which we can do make earth better because we would not be able to get off Hestia without significantly more thrust than we can currently generate.

That planet is pretty much on perpetual Jurassic Era, just with more extreme sky creatures. Imagine just chilling in your house and then out of nowhere a fking skywhale just drops dead on top of your house. Humans need a lot— like really a lot— of works to make the planet habitable for us

Sad thing about exo-planets is explored planets are too big usually because small/medium planets like earth very hard to detect. Most planets we know is either too close to their sun or too big like jupiter means easy to detech them when their body absorb their star more frequitently. Both situations are bad for what we looking for. Planet is really hot or too big and has too much gravity, not solid etc.

that with the intelligent life is too optimistic. On earth there were also several intelligent species on parallel like homo erestris, homo neandertalesis, homo sapies, the third one eradicated all the others,

Also intelligent life might happen much faster and thus gives a faster end to nature
