I no longer love where I live because it's missing roaming bands of wild Chiwawa's. I am way late to this, but I loved the Chiwawa story. It made me laugh; just because how silly it sounded throughout, almost like a sketch in a cartoon.

Every once in a very very seldom while, I'll find a teeny tiny wild strawberry, bigger than a pencil eraser probably, growing near the house. The taste is so much bigger than a farm-grown strawberry & it's perfectly fresh & wonderful. It has to be eaten right away or an animal may get it in your absence & it won't last long once picked. If no one's around you get to enjoy it yourself with no guilt at all & then you get to tell of your happy discovery & the people who care about you enjoy your delight.

I live a half mile away from the Santiam River!
My dog and I go daily, weather permitting, and sit and watch the ospreys, eagles, blue herons and other birds, fish, craw dads, frogs, you name it!
We love sitting by the water and listening to nature!

There's much to love here. I have four gorgeous secluded rolling wooded acres in NW Lower Michigan. A tiny detail that delights me no end: wild chipmunks that sit in my hand or lap eating birdseed and nuts while I pet them. They come when I call and sometimes they call me.
In my youth I lived in some devastated Detroit ghettos. Once, in the worst of them, I was stalked one sunny morning by a pack of feral dogs much larger than Chihuahuas; filthy, emaciated, and with desperation in their eyes. I hightailed it into the house and never ventured out alone again as long as I lived there. A lifelong animal lover, I found it surreal and horrifying in a very primal way to see in the eyes of dogs that they perceived me as potential food.
Now I have a pack of coyotes a couple dozen strong that hunts on my land at night. I don't go out past dark as coyotes have been known to attack lone humans. I'm small, old, and vegan so I smell like their favorite treat: a slow-moving herbivore. Lol
For all my experiences of mortal danger that dog event must have left it's mark because similar scenes have shown up in several of my short stories.

I spent nearly all of my adult life (40 years) in San Francisco, which I ended up leaving because of a dire change in circumstance. After a year (minus two days) of living with one of my brothers and sisters-in-law on their farm in Oregon, I ended up in a small town (<8000 people) on the Northern California coast and I’ve come to love it, despite having few friends here. I’m five hours from the Bay Area, which is close enough to visit (although not a possibility during this Covid-19 era), but not so close that I overstay my welcome. I like that I spent my young years in a vibrant, wonderful city with a lot of cultural amenities: ballet, symphony, opera, film festivals, art films, silent films, poetry, folk singers, the old Fillmore, etc. In my fifties, I got crazy interested in birds, and this is a decent birding location. I have one good friend (also from the Bay Area) and have also become friends with her husband, and am friendly with a couple of people in my apartment building, and know numerous local merchants, so I’m seldom lonely. It’s not how I thought my life would go, but it’s worked out rather well thus far. I’m currently 64.

I live in Fallon, NV. The biggest thing going on in any given time is a buck hanging out in your yard. Which you would think was cool until you come out the door and realize the thing out for blood…God, I miss city life.

I lived by the edge of a wetland area. It was so green, quiet and full of wildlife. I raised a container garden on a deck overlooking a mature cherry tree. We put up one, then two, then three bird feeding stations. Suet, nuts, Niger seeds, sunflower seeds, and live mealy worms, put out twice a day. After several seasons we were visited year round by the natives and delighted in seeing rarities. If it was too hot, we could sit inside and look out at flowers, trees, birds of all kinds, Chipmunks, squirrels, an opposing and very nonchalant deer families. It felt as if there were no other houses or people around. Just the Flora and fauna against a backdrop of calming greenery.

at nighttime, lorikeets gather in the trees, and have a raucous conference. It always makes me smile to imagine the lorikeets catching up with each other's day, making plans for the morrow, and socialising before they settle down to sleep.

I live in San Diego right below you, always had these groups of bums always in the same part of this road under a tree, everyday for every year they were there

Everything's so GREEN where I live. Every side road leads to another amazing landscape. This country is so amazingly beautiful it's crazy. Even in the rain it's beautiful. I've been here for over 10 years, and I never get sick of it, and it continues to surprise me.
