Hey everybody! Hope you liked this video. I don’t bring my personal life on here too much, but I didn’t really know what else to do. Breakup / sad music is a really fascinating topic and I loved talking about what I listen to in this situation. There’s a pretty specific cycle and yeah, it usually features a lot of Sufjan Stevens.

Landslide by Fleetwood Mac is literally the perfect song. Talks about growth, love/loss of love, and transition. Perfect for that begging sadness and the moving on period. This song will always be one of my all time favorites💓 “I’ve been afraid of changing ‘cause I built my life around you. Time makes you bolder, children get older and I’m getting older too” really is just a punch to the heart every time. I don’t think there is a song that can top this one for me

I haven't experienced this situation yet (thank God), but Nothing is U or Hate That You Know Me from Bleachers' Gone Now are great at capturing that feeling. At least in my opinion. (Also Jack Antonoff is a great writer imo anyway)

Ne me quitte pas by Jacques Brel. Hands down the best breakup song of all time. Even if you can’t understand the lyrics, it will still hit you in that place.

The God that Failed by Metallica is really sad. It's basically about James Hetfields mother had cancer which could have been treated but she refused as it would have gone against her religion

John Mayer personally got me through a break up. Slow dancing in a burning room and who says are great songs for that period when you’re past it but not quite over it
