What’s the deal with Comic Con?

Anyone reading this comment, if you ever have the chance to go to a convention, go. All the best days in my life have been when I went to conventions. I'm totally biaised because I'm very autistic and it makes me genuinely cry to see ANYTHING of my special interests in public, but seriously its some of the best experiences in a lifetime. You get to support small artists who are in the same fandom as you, meet cosplayers (or be the cosplayer!!) have little in character interactions with people- Im just working on my cosplay for next year's fancon as im watching (I'll be Aventurine from hsr) and already preparing stickers and stuff I'll be handing out to people. I still think about this year's fancon every day and smile to myself like an idiot just because it was so incredible and I can't beleive I actually got to go. ABSOLUTELY GO TO CONVENTIONS!! YOU WON'T REGRET IT <3

I had a great time at NYCC on the Friday date. Got drunk, blew some money, met Bill Plimpton, and talked a hell of a lot of shop with artits.

Always a great time as far as I'm concerned.

I met Hayden Chistensen at Rose City Comic Con. At one point, the guy in front of me asked if he could SAY “I hate sand”. Hayden looked at the guy behind him and the man said “It’s $150 for quotes”. My guy! $150 for 3 freakin words.

As a person who has attened many comic Cons both large(SDCC) and small, I have to say I miss the small vibe. Los Angeles has one that was started by Stan Lee himself maybe 10 years or so ago and while it is midsize it still has the feel of what Comic-Cons used to be. It is isnt one big marketing ploy for studios. You can talk to comic book artists both big and small. I mean I met Frank Miller one year at LA. That would not even fathom that at SDCC(Because he would not be caught dead there). I like the smaller to midsize vibe.

I don't get the difference between "selling the Brooklyn bridge" and charging for an autograph or meet & greet? At least on the latter you are getting what you pay for

The only thing that brings me to comic con is the people, didn't buy a damn thing or really even care look >< you should have gone.

I hate that with cosplay you have to be techy these days, and man I wish there was a separate competition for those who use 3D printers, just feels unfair.

Phoenix is a city, one with a higher population than San Diego! Comic Con in Phoenix is huge, it's just not the original location.
