16:56 yea, the amount of things you have to keep track of is crazy, you’re doing at least 3 different jobs a shift and get paid like you’re doing it for fun. the balloons were always the worst, especially when ppl came in last minute and had a bunch to blow up, I’ve had to tell people I couldn’t a few times bc we were too busy

Used to work at DG, it genuinely gets this bad and it’s not even the fault of the managers, corporate just KEEPS SENDING SHIT especially things your manager DIDN’T ask for/buy. It’s actually insane, plus corporate DG is a “yes man” company, meaning if you question authority or try to fight for your underlings as a manager, YOU GET THREATENED WITH YOUR JOB OR PUNISHED OTHERWISE.

The polish one means "everything for 5zł or more" (5zł is more or less a dolar) there are also shops called złotówka (little 1zł) but nothing is actually that cheap there

on the whole dollar general harming mom and pop stores, it's true. i grew up in a small village that had one corner store, two rivalling gas station across from each other, a family dollar, a dollar general, and one actual grocer. the grocer was a mom and pop store that had been there since the village was established. the family dollar shut down not too long after the dollar general was built due to loss in sales. it simply outperformed it. the thing about our dollar general is that it isn't one of the markets. it's just a convenience store. no produce or meats. the mom and pop shop has much more inflated prices since it's a small business, and it loses to dollar general for that. the same bbq sauce you'll find there is $5 compared to dollar general's $3. the only thing that keeps our mom and pop shop open is their produce, liquor, deli, and meats. if they opened a dollar general market in my home town, our mom and pop shop would be dead in a year.

i am currently working at a dollar store. i work register, and stock. while my boss is busy somewhere in the store touching up, leaving me all alone. its the worst job ive had. every time i walk away to stock somebody comes up in line. and my store has smokes and alcohol- SO THATS ALL THE PEOPLE BUY. ITS ONLY CIGARETTES AND BEER
