What If We Killed Every Mosquito On Earth?

What would happen if mosquitoes went extinct? And could this new mosquito eradicate disease? Some brilliant scientists have made all of this possible.
Special thanks to Dr. Scott O’Neill and the World Mosquito Program for their help.

We live less than a mile from a swamp…it's not fun. Can't be outside in the summer past 6pm

Things that feed off of mosquitoes could also die out. So could the things that feed off the things that feed off mosquitoes. Depending on how far the chain goes it could even affect us humans in some way. Great care must be taken or you could be eradicating more then just mosquitoes.

It’s not possible to eradicate mosquitoes. There is literally trillions of them. Also that would cause some serious ecological problems, as mosquitoes are a major food source. We can however modify mosquitoes to prevent them from carrying life threatening diseases, or even all diseases. These modified mosquitoes, already exist in labs, but it’s the question of ‘do we do it?’ I’d argue yes.

As an Indonesian, i remember back then mid-late 2000’s when i was on school many friends of mine absent because of dengue fever. Idk how valid my statement, but right now i barely heard people got sick because of it.

Every single human have to kill 50000 of them for 50 years than we could say they are gone for good which is impossible

I got Malaria this summer, I killed the mosquito that infected me with it, that’s one down, 150+ Trillion (potentially quadrillions) to go.

Was watching a nature documentary years ago that said if every housefly lived out its entire normal lifespan (about 30 days) and all of their offspring lived their normal lifespans, without getting eaten or squashed or otherwise die prematurely, the resulting mass of flies after just 1 year would be a ball of flies the size of the Earth.
