What If All Houses Were Covered With Solar Panels?

Rise. and. shine! Get up and seize the day! You can do anything under the sun…when the sun powers everything. Your phone, your home, and all that’s in between. This is life on the golden grid. But is it the utopia we thought it would be? In 2018, the state of California passed a law requiring all new houses to be built with solar panels after 2020. Now you might think that sounds both extreme and unfair, considering it will raise home prices by as much as $12,000. But it’s a lot more sensible than you think.

    Does solar panels have consenquences/negative effects on the sun? I know its a stupid question, but its the one question I've been wanted to know. Thanks!

    It would be impossible for the local power grid to support this amount of wild AC from solar power at peak output. It would have to contract with other remote grids to accept the power 100% backed up by peaking power typically from running natural gas turbine generators running at minimum 70% fuel consumption to be at fast reacting readiness. This is more expensive in natural gas more than making all the electric from more efficient means.

    if all houses get solar panels …arab countries will fall down and countries like india, south africa, nigeria, kenya, will become wealthier since they wouldnt need to spend dollars on buying oil

    I think everyone could benefit from one or two small solar panels, of course it wouldn't be a replacement, but it could save them some money.

    People's attention is being deviated like fools. Saying it's either a replacement or nothing at all. But it doesn't have to replace anything just yet, just be a help for the budget and why not the planet

    If we could make panels more efficient, cheaper and heavily subsidised or even free then that would massively help the environment the real reason they don't is the tax on energy companies would be less

    What should be required to have them is offices, shops and factories. These places require energy when the sun is shining so you don't need batteries, making it cheaper.

    No way I'm advocating the USA to depend on China for our energy needs! China is committing genocide on 3 different ethnic groups! Uigher's Tibetans, and Falun Gong! China is forced organ harvesting these groups and selling the organs on the open market like cattle!
