What Happened To Your Hair? by Matthew & Gunnar Nelson (Ch. 18-27) My So-Called Book Club
After the death of their father, 18-year-old twins Matthew and Gunnar Nelson wrote and recorded their first album “After the Rain.” When it was released in 1990, they became one of the biggest bands in the world OVERNIGHT.
Chapters 18-27 in their book What Happened To Your Hair? give behind the scenes details about how they got their album made, and how they reached #1 on the charts…with absolutely zero help from their record label or management.

sorry we missed the livestream . did you ever read comics back in the day? You might like Neil Gaiman's Sandman series.

Although I wasn't able to join the stream, I'll say I miss how two people can make an album on their own without AI or outside writers.
And of course, three generations of #1 hits: Matthew/Gunnar, Ricky and Ozzie & Harriett. Now from the opening clip, is it Matthew on the left/Gunnar on the right or vice versa? (I believe they're identical twins).
I'll also say I enjoyed the summer streams talking about the Electric Youth Era. As I said when they began, fall of 1987 was a real big vibe shift: you had the Baby Jessica story gripping the nation and the Wall Street Crash really take the metaphorical 'wind out of the sails' of 80s excess.
