What Everyone Misses About Tiny Desk Concerts
NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts have been a staple of music culture for over 15 years. Name any artist working today, and they’ve probably done a Tiny Desk Concert. But there’s a particular reason among many why the series has done so well, and it’s a reason that hasn’t gotten much attention. Yet it’s actually crucial to how the Tiny Desk Concert has taken over the internet…

Hey everyone! One minor update — in the week since this video released, Josh has also launched his own Patreon! If you're at all interested in his future projects like Global Sound Concerts and Ghost Light Concerts, definitely consider supporting him. Link's in the description. Thanks for watching!!!

Just blows your mind how good @joshrogosin can make his global concerts and Tiny Desk sound so magnificent when giant programs like SNL & other late night shows can't make their live musical guests sound good (typically). Josh is a genius!

when you started listing influential/memorable tiny desk concerts, I instantly thought of Mac Miller. he and I are the same age and I grew up listening to his music. his passing still affects me today, and the tiny desk performance is like a little time capsule, forever holding a snapshot of who he was. I appreciate you talking about him here

I think it’s encouraging too because it helps inspire people to understand anybody can record music and become a sound engineer

To this day I think Superorganism's Tiny Desk is one the wackiest and most amazing live performances I've seen… there's some girl playing a water bucket. It's insane.

So… What does everyone miss about Tiny Desk Concerts? Could have used an honest title and let us know what the video was actually about without insinuating that the Tiny Desks have lost value or an audience… Disappointing

If you were excited (or maybe surprised) by T-Pain's Tiny Desk, first I highly suggest you check out his "On Top of the Covers" (the full concert is on YT)
Second, check out his stream. He's on Twitch a lot and it's really cool. Most of the time he's just doing nerdy stuff. His wife chops it up, it amazing.

Tiny desk is awesome and josh is a very talented engineer. My only gripe is him talking about capturing a moment and then going on to talk about how much post production goes into each episode. I get when he talks about not producing a final product, I think every live sound engineer does. Youre not going to get a polished final cut live. Would be super interested to be at a tiny desk in person and hear what the crowd is hearing and even more so what the musicians are hearing.
