We’ve Been Wrong About the Trojan Horse
The legendary tale of the Trojan War has captivated people for thousands of years, filled with Greek gods, epic battles, mysterious prophecies, and the famous giant wooden horse said to have brought down the city of Troy. But was the Trojan Horse real, or is it one of history’s greatest myths?
On this episode of Weird History, we examine the possibility that historians have misunderstood the Trojan Horse all along. Was it truly a massive wooden horse hiding Greek soldiers, or could it have been something entirely different?

Yes , very true and they fought 6 years , died on that battlefield and then suddenly one of them (Odysseus) said " Hey have you ever thought to bring a battering ram and just destroy the gates ?" and they were like " Bro this daddy is fantastic, let's make a battery ram, a trebuchet …. destroy the gates get Helen, burn Troy and go home " and then another soldier said " How we will get back home sir ?" and Odysseus replied " Don't be such an idiot , while you are building the trebuchet , my men and I will build a frigate for our safe return … and we'll try to build also a B17 Flying Fortress " and suddenly all the soldiers said " DUDE that's AWESOME " and after they conquered Troy they went back in two teams Alpha team with the Frigate and Bravo Team Six with B17 … somewhere along the way Alpha Team called for air support and Bavo team bombed the sh** out of Mermaids, Ciclops and Goddesses and …. killed all of Odysseus enemies THE END . This is exactly how it happened … I know it for sure cause my Grandad told me …. he was an eye witness .
P.S> – Also my grandma saw Cleopatra and she was Hindukush and her name was pronounced Cle Opaa Traa

Anything that wasn't written down until centuries after it happened probably didn't happen. Or at least, it didn't happen exactly as the oral history says. Will we ever know? I doubt it.

I guess I might pick the battering ram or the siege engine explanation. It is plausible and they were in use at the time.

No one hid inside a wooden horse. Just one of the MANY incorrect things I was taught about history in school growing up. In fact, pretty much everything taught about history in the public school system is wrong to an extent.

In the book odyssey, there are lots of ,not many, conversations where it is mentioned that the trojan horse was Odysseus's plan, like in the chapter where Odysseus talks with the dead Agamemnon, Achilles, and in other chapters too, there are mentions that Odysseus has planned the trojan horse.

let's just be clear, there is no evidence that the Trojan horse was a battering ram, that the trojan horse ever existed, or that the trojan war ever happened. Pausanias was writing in a time where people were questioning the authenticity of Homer's story, and he is quoting a hypothesis, not something rooted in any evidence.
If you brought this to an academic conference you would be politely told that no one takes this idea serious

Poseidon was the god of art, oceans, earthquakes, and HORSES. Hence the Trojan Horse as a story device.

It makes more sense that the Greeks carried a warship upside down over their heads to use the ram on the bow to "kick" down the gate. If not the whole ship, then perhaps just the bow section of a damaged one. The ships hull would protect the men and with this being a Spartan led operation, this could also be where the idea of the phalanx originated.

Do historians still believe that the Trojan Horse will be well-maintained? The greeks burned the city of Troy and the Trojan horse along with it considering that it was made of wood.
