Indian country: I've never been fan of Hollywood. When a white army battles Indians and wins, it is called a great victory, but if they lose it is called a massacre.– Chiksika, Shawnee.

Chiksika's words cut to the heart of how history is often framed by those in power. The language used to describe events can shape perceptions, justify actions, and even erase the experiences of those who suffered. It's a stark reminder of the importance of questioning narratives and seeking out perspectives that challenge the dominant story.

I saw the show and noticed that… both of his parents ancestors traveled with the same Hilderbrand Detachment leaving Georgia on the “Trail Of Tears”. I wonder if he knows?!

I love Wes Studi!! He actually came to my class when I was in college at the Institute of American Indian Arts. We’ve run into each other a couple times and he remembered me each time! He’s also good friends with my friend, Zahn McClarnon (also an indigenous actor). I kid you not, I swear on my Mom!

Great guy, great actor. I have been watching Wes my whole life. They shot Last of the Mohicans in the area where I was raised. I guess that was my first exposure, what a killer role (and performed to a level I have rarely seen matched by anyone). Since then I have always had an eye out for his work. He always crushes it, no matter what he is playing. Animated voices? Sure, no problem. Historical fiction? Yep. Modern crime drama? No problem. Always selling his role to the fullest extent. A really talented actor and consummate artist, he should get more respect. Oh, I guess he's Native American too.

He’s so unlike other Hollywood actors. He’s not one of “them”. His humility is so pure and comes from an understanding and a resilience that the majority of his colleagues in the industry can’t possibly possess. He sees people and the world differently, and that comes through in the characters he portrays. He’s amazing in any role he plays, but I believe Wes Studi was absolutely meant to use his gift of acting to tell the stories of the Native American people.

Wes has a power and presence on the big screen. I think he’s a terrific actor. In person he’s a very gentle man, quite different from the powerful men he portrays. When I watched ‘Last of the Mohicans’ I thought he would win an Oscar. In my opinion he should have.
