What do you mean you're selling a Force of Will, are you dense bro? Just use the free counterspell. Please bro, be Satan bro. Be the blue player you were born to be.

As someone who thrifts clothes from savers for my kids, & sometimes my wife & myself, Savers is so damn expensive for second hand clothes sometimes. The kids clothes are relatively cheap but the adult clothes are just barely lower than new stuff. I mostly thrift the kids clothes just because they grow out of them so quickly so I don’t really want to pay full price for clothes they’re going to outgrow in a few months since they’re not in school yet. Once they’re in school it’s a different story altogether because I know kids are ruthless and I’m not having my boys get bullied over something so stupid.

All this to say, I’m now learning that Savers makes a killing off of their reselling knowing that they already buy clothes from other thrifts and mark them up to basically brand new market value… like I knew that thrift stores already prey upon the less fortunate by basically paying the lowest amount they possibly can but also outright charging full price for clothes they already paid pennies for or got for free from donations, it’s irritating as hell but hey, that’s capitalism I suppose…

i genuinely feel a bit wrong in a small way, here in finland we have some lame bs local ones which are like self priced or such, aka the sellers choose the price and they sell temu junk there to avoid restrictions. those i barely remember the existance of as thrift stores because there is never ever anything.
the real thrift stores we have here, are the finnish red cross' "SPR Kontti" locations.
they're so good, both fair prices, fun treasure hunt, and they are literally owned by the red cross, like a big bunch of their profits go directly to charity stuff

While I’m sure I could go into the horror stories of working at goodwill, counting 1500-4000$ in profit in my own register, EVERY DAY when I was making 9$ an hour radicalized me more than I give it credit for. That’s like spending the end of every single shift, for years, handing goodwill more than you’d make in a month working there. (This was in 2016)

I LOVE THRIFTING!!!! Got my $400 leather jacket for $26, a $3,000 designer coat for $76 (knoll & Carter), and a sweet raccoon fur/real cashmere jacket for like $20! Don't know what the retail for that one was/is but yay! Giving these furs a second life!

Specifically calling out Salvation Army here, for all of my 26 years its always been the place to go for affordable clothing, furniture, decent toys, sports equipment, sandals, outrageous early 2000s heels 😂. It was where you go when your 2-4 kids outgrow their clothes AGAIN in the same year. You could buy real quality jeans that were made of denim still, cotton shirts that don't fall apart after a couple washes because todays goods might as well be landfill bound from the start. But NOW?! Now they have the same colored tag system, and set prices per item as goodwill. Shorts, shirts, pants, fuck even 1 pair of used socks have a SET price that does not meet the quality of the items they actually have anymore because of the employees being scaplers now even. 1 tag at 50% off ? Instead of the 2 50% off tag colors and 1 $0.99 tag color, to make that change at the turn of another recession when people are really feeling the heat is so selfish and greedy. Then you hear on the stereo system inside the store all of the stories from the people they helped like you should feel good shopping here, just to turn around and watch them load semi trucks full of the better quality items, furniture, and clothes to go off to likely be in better sides of town or whatever. Fuck big thrift stores, might as well be Walmart.

I don't look forward to eventually finding out that the local chain Village Discount Outlet is just like the others. I've done my due diligence and came up woth nothing, so here's hoping. The white dude blundering his best through the "HOLA, HOLA, HOLA, bee-yen-vendido ah village discount outlet, gra-see-uhs por su– uh, SUS com-prows" message has a warm apace in the bottom of my heart. Bless you VDO dude, and your buddy El Señor Dan 🫡 I and everyone in the midwest know now that "a shopping cart is meant for toddlers only, not grade school aged children, and certainly not in combination!"

As someone who works at good will…for one our district has all clothes in sizes, and 2, tugf, where are going that has a good will that places things by colour? Although, NYC is different than here in Indiana, but NYC is also money pickers too.

Not a word about KonMari making a massive fucking boon for us OG poors? There was a sweet spot where I was able to get every damn thing I needed if I was just patient enough to wait for someone to "does not spark joy" my worries away.
