In Brownsville, Texas, one of the poorest communities in America, Elon Musk sold hope for the town to climb out of stagnation into growth. Instead, SpaceX has caused earthquakes, rampant workplace injuries, skirted regulations, threatened wildlife, and displaced local communities, while securing millions in corporate welfare. We went to Texas in January, just as SpaceX was gearing up for the seventh launch of its Starship, and this is what we unraveled.

Definitely and aggressive and bias take on the whole situation but overall the reporting itself was good. All progress leads to problems in the short term and any time we've revolutionized something there were people who were unhappy about it. Many, many examples in history from the printing press to cars. Most people who are homeowners there should just sell their houses if they don't like the situation now that the prices have probably tripled. Don't worry about "dismantling of the government", most of it is just useless slob which does nothing of benefit to anyone. And hey, if Elon has a secondary objective, who doesn't? You think the institutions which got defunded were only out there to make your life better you are very naive.

Company towns are evil because CEOs of those companies are evil. I live in such mining town, Zarafshon. Everything is great here. We have almost double the average nationwide salary, our healthcare is the cheapest in the region, our education is free, and all the workers get 1 month paid vacation+2 weeks of sanatorium. That's all because our own local people work there, and they care about their community.
It all comes down to WHO is ruling, not the company itself

This is what happens when our officials in government positions and communities make decisions based on money and nothing else. I live in the RGV and will tell you first hand that the majority of the community in this area is very ignorant and gullible. They lack the research capabilities and are very closed minded. For example, the couple at the end when the lady says “what’s gonna happen after he leaves who’s going to clean up all this mess that he’s making” hello lady your grandkids, your great grandkids. These are questions that they should be asking way before they allow for these big corporations to step in and disrupt. Many of the residents in these areas also don’t vote so this will continue and it will get worse and eventually they will have to move out because they will no longer afford to live in the RGV much less Mars. Instead of thinking selfishly people in the RGV should practice good stewardship of the planet we currently inhabit and stop allowing destructive behavior as this.
