We Asked Trump Voters About Groceries. Their Answers Will Shock You.

More Perfect Union | April 19, 2026

Trump pledged to lower grocery prices, but beef prices are up 12.8% and coffee prices are up 20.9%.

Now, Zohran Mamdani is offering a radical solution.

We went out with @accordingtothekid to ask New Yorkers — including Trump voters — what they think of city-owned grocery stores.

I think the important thing to gather from this video is that while social issues are important, the thing that unites Americans are table top issues: rent, food, gas. These need to be the center of the left's campaigns going forward. Don't let Republicans pigeon hole us as coastal elites who only care about being "woke."

You know what would help more than government controlled stores? Taxing the rich and large corporations properly and giving tax breaks to smaller companies and funding schools, healthcare, and give the little guy more of their money back in taxes. Building back the middle class would help more than all this nonsense.

Yes, the U.S. military still operates PXs, though the terminology has evolved.

Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) continues to run retail facilities on military installations. While the terms "PX" (Post Exchange) for Army posts and "BX" (Base Exchange) for Air Force bases are still commonly used and recognized, AAFES has been rebranding these locations under the unified name "The Exchange" (often abbreviated as "X") to simplify branding across services.

Current Operations: The Exchange operates over 4,900 facilities worldwide, including main stores, convenience stores ("Shoppettes"), gas stations, restaurants, movie theaters, and specialty shops.
Eligibility: Access is granted to active-duty service members, reservists, National Guard members, retirees, and their dependents, typically via a valid military ID.
Services: These facilities offer a wide range of products and services—clothing, electronics, groceries, vehicle sales, barber shops, and even military clothing and uniform sales—often at tax-free prices.
Rebranding: Although the official push is toward the "Exchange" name, many personnel and installations still refer to the main stores as "PX" or "BX" in everyday conversation.
In short, while the name may be changing, the function and presence of these military retail outlets remain strong and essential to service member quality of life.

Regarding the remark on Socialist Grocery Stores; The U.S military has been running these socialist grocery stores since World War II. I did a search regarding the Military Socialist Grocery Stores. This is what was returned. Are there any veterans out there who want to chime in on this?

People are ignorant including this interviewer. Prices of most things almost never go down, the rate of increases just lessens. That is why Biden’s inflation will be with us forever. Ouch!

People didnt vote for Trump they voted for change. The democrats dropped the ball. They did nothing about what people were concerned about. In the next election they will vote for change again and the democrats will fail them again. It will go back and forth like that because both sides are bought and paid for by billionaires.

You cannot have state financed stores… It's Will destroy the market, what will the private stores do? they cannot compete, so they close = fewer jobs, lower GNP, higher tax. It's stupid. Not the way to go about it. The way is to reduce burden on farmers and production companies (lower cost to produce), also remove barriers for international trade. Tariffs = High price for companies to aquire and produce. Which means higher price for the consumer. Basic economics. Dumb Trump don't seem to understand this, or maybe he does, the tariffs goes to the government. Money for Trump.
