Wavves Unveils New Album and Tour Plans, Drops Video for New Track “Goner”: Watch Now!
Wavves to Ride the Wave of Anticipation with New Album Spun and North American Tour
Southern California’s own Wavves have finally come up for air, announcing their latest album Spun set for release on June 6 via Ghost Ramp. The band, known for their infectious brand of surf-rock-infused noise pop, is already hyping up the upcoming album with the release of their latest single, “Goner,” produced by the legendary Travis Barker. Accompanied by a vibrant and raw music video, directed by Brandon Dermer, “Goner” takes a closer look at Wavves’ energy, which has been expertly harnessed during their recent wildfires charity show at Zebulon in LA.
Returning to their core lineup, Nathan Williams, Stephen Pope, Ross Traver, and Alex Gates come together once more for this new venture, following the critically acclaimed Hideaway, released in 2021. The excitement bubbled over earlier this year when the band dropped “So Long,” giving fans a tantalizing glimpse of what they could expect from Spun.
In speaking about his collaboration with Barker, Williams expressed relief and nostalgia, noting, “I had this song I had been sitting on, always revisited it and tried to record it a bunch of times, but it was never just right. Eventually, it was giving me PTSD. I was talking to Travis about doing some songs together, and when I opened up the vault to him, this one jumped out, so we laid it down and finally we got it right.” It’s apparent that their musical chemistry has resulted in something special this time around.
With buzz surrounding Spun reaching fever pitch, Wavves has officially announced a 19-stop North American tour to celebrate the album’s launch. Fans can look forward to seeing their favorite tunes come to life in cities across the continent, from Santa Cruz to Montreal and wrapping up in a homecoming show in Los Angeles. The lineup features support from Beach Goons, Death Lens, and Chokecherry—all promising an exhilarating blend of surf and punk-infused sounds.
The band’s return not only symbolizes a new chapter but rekindles the spirit of California’s beach and basement scenes that Wavves have long represented. As the summer heats up, so too does the anticipation for Spun and the surrounding tour, signaling an electrifying time for both the band and its dedicated listeners.
