WATCH: Traverse City teens charged in deadly shooting in court Tuesday

Two teens accused in a deadly shooting are expected to be arraigned Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in 86th District Court.

NOTE: Several people are scheduled to be arraigned at 1:30 along with the suspects. The exact time of when the shooting suspects will be arraigned is unknown.

They’re charged in connection to the shooting death of Traverse City Parking Services Employee Lawrence Boyd

The 17-year-old, who allegedly fired at police during an attempted car theft Saturday night, now faces a first-degree murder charge. The 18-year-old faces a felony murder charge. Both were arrested within hours of the incident, which police say began around 10 p.m. Saturday on East Eighth Street.

During the incident, the suspects allegedly stole from cars, fled from officers, and fired a gun later determined to have been stolen from Missaukee County. No officers were hurt, though one bullet struck the pant leg of a responding officer.

The following morning, Lawrence Boyd, a city parking services employee, was found dead at a parking garage on State Street. Police say Boyd’s death is linked to the car theft attempt, chase, and shots fired over the weekend.

Boyd, remembered for his kindness and devotion to family, lived on Old Mission Peninsula with his mother, Kristy Hooper, who is battling bone cancer, and was building a future with his longtime girlfriend, Amanda Evans.

Authorities continue to investigate the case as the arraignment approaches.
