WATCH: Michigan officials outline FEMA options following ice storm disaster declaration
Michigan State Police, Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division provide an update on FEMA disaster assistance available to state, tribal, local governments, and certain private non-profits following the historic March 2025 ice storm.
Captain Kevin Sweeney, deputy state director of Emergency Management and commander of the Michigan State Police, Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division will be there.
On July 22, 2025, President Donald J. Trump declared a major disaster exists in 13 Northern Michigan counties that experienced extreme winter weather March 28-30.
This declaration makes FEMA Public Assistance grants available to help eligible government entities and private non-profits recover costs related to debris removal, emergency protective measures, and infrastructure repairs.
The MSP/EMHSD is expected to explain what types of assistance are available.
