Respectfully (and genuinely respectfully, Fukuyama episode was very illuminating) I think that you do not know what you are talking about in this episode. Eternal Recurrence is something that has to be experienced, not read about. Readership — grow PAST your boundaries!

This is quite possibly one of the worst videos on Nietzsche I've seen. Firstly, I want to point out that this video very rarely uses actual quotes from Nietzsche and when it does it's devoid of context. Secondly, the relationship with his sister is wrong. He was very clear in his letters that he wasn't very fond of her and the reason he didn't like her husband isn't because he got in the way of him and her but because he didn't like his antisemitism. If anything it was Elizabeth that had an unhealthy obsession with Nietzsche not the other way around. Just read his letters, guys. Now for the Nazis it should be noted that they never published his works in full. They heavily edited and cherry picked. Nietzsche also did not view Jews as inferior or blondes as superior. Human All Too Human, 475 explicitly contradicts that claim. A lot more can be said about the errors or misleading things said in this video but I wanted to keep my comment short.

“A lot of stuff suddenly getting thrown at you and it’s a bit chaotic and weird and it’s visceral in a bit of a bodily way, then it all sort of comes together at the end and sort of starts to make sense”

So….a bit like watching Eddie Izzard’s stand up?

I didn’t start believing in eschatology because of religion.
I started because of a feeling.

    The world feels unstable.
    Not politically. Not economically.
    Existentially.
Something about modern life feels like it’s accelerating toward a breaking point.
And when I read philosophers like Friedrich Nietzsche…
    I realized:
    The apocalypse isn’t destruction.
    It’s revelation.
    Something hidden is being exposed.

There is a passage in BGE where Nietzsche says that the Jews are the strongest, purest, toughest, etc. in Europe and in WTP he said that antisemitism is just underprivileged resentment against Jews for having money. I wish you could have included this in your analysis of Nietzsches writing on the Jews.

I always kinda thought that you cannot force people to become the overman, it has to be through self discipline and realization. I always kinda figured there’s a self strength that comes from going through that transformation… kinda making nihilism work for you. You can see the importance of the anti modernism movements in that maintaining of a sustainable social structure (wasn’t there some rant about how society is going to collapse now that religion is dead?) but also know that forcing these views on others is just the same thing people were doing prior to that self realization. I also always felt that the overman knows the importance of personal self growth and individualism as being an overman wouldn’t lose that status from the growth of others. You are not at risk of losing your self realization because of another’s self realization, in fact accepting others as they are is a key to becoming an overman.

Idk I’m just ranting, but I always thought achieving that overman status involved self discipline and self reflection through balancing modernism and anti modernism to ensure everyone can achieve that same state of overman.
