SLACK! : NOSTALGIA

Visiting a REAL 90s Pizza Hut (kinda)

Cinemassacre | October 18, 2026

Go to https://expressvpn.com/cinemassacre and find out how you can get 4 extra months thanks to our sponsor, ExpressVPN!

We took a trip out to Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania to check out one of the last remaining Pizza Hut Classic locations… and it honestly felt like stepping back into the 90s. (This was actually filmed a while ago, back in September of 2025, when we filmed at Reaper’s Revenge haunted hayride near Scranton, PA for Monster Madness. Same day!)

If you grew up going to Pizza Hut, you probably remember it as more than just pizza. The red cups, the dim lighting, the buffet, the arcade machines… it was a whole experience. Something you don’t really get anymore. So I went out there with Justin, Ryan, and Patrick and just started talking about all the weird, specific memories that come with Pizza Hut. The ads, the promotions, Ninja Turtles, demo discs, Friday nights… all of it. But at the same time, it’s kind of a weird feeling. Because these “Pizza Hut Classic” locations are both a time capsule… and a modern attempt to recreate something that’s been gone for years.

So the question is… what place would YOU want to see brought back like this?

If you're going to do McDonald's for the retro/nostalgic feel the one in Downey, Ca is one that has the 50s look and serves food. You could also visit the McDonald's museum in San Bernardino, CA. A bad part of this trip is going to San Bernardino. The city is a real shit hole, also LA traffic is terrible.

The Pizza Hut where I grew up
In Pennsylvania used to sell beer & I remember they had a table top “Ms.PAC-MAN” too.

Just recently, a “small” Pizza Hut just closed. It’s sad that a steak dinner to go from “Texas Roadhouse” costs just as much or less than a pan pizza from Pizza Hut.
    That’s what did them in🤷🏼‍♂️.

The BEST PIZZA they ever had was called “Neopolitan” pizza. They had it in the 90’s & a lot of people want them to BRING IT BACK🙏🏻‼️

This location needs to be protected. I don't know if they had it in America but in Australia Pizza Hut was known for all you can eat lunch and dinner. It was a tradition for my friends to skip half the last day of the school term and go to Pizza Hut for lunch. All you can eat pizza, salad and desert bar for lunch for about $12 back at the start of the millennium was a great deal for broke high school students.

We almost always had the place basically to ourselves and would compete with each other or our PBs from our previous lunch trip 3 months prior to see who could eat the most pizza. In Australia the school year is broken down into 4 terms about 10 weeks each then we get 2 week break and an extended break over Christmas which is our summer. So we'd try to go at the end of every term up until the Pizza Hut close by closed. I remember my PB was 12 slices with some desert and being dumb ass teenaged boys, we always ended up making a mess.

If there was still a location like that in my city I would promote and recommend it non-stop and go there on the regular as long as they still offered the all you can eat lunch and dinner. I'd be willing to pay 3 times what I was paying back in the day.

I would love for more Pizza Hut classics to be built, especially around my area. Having pizza at a sit down Pizza Hut is a core memory from my family Summer Vacations. If there is one other place I would like to see “Retro Restored”, it’s definitely a 90s style Chuck E Cheese’s pizza. Animatronics and all. I never quite understood the issue with nostalgia these days. Who wouldn’t want to relive a fond childhood memory. Isn’t that the whole point?

I live about 10 miles away from that Pizza Hut and we don't really go there. The funny thing is Scranton has some of the best pizza around outside of NYC so Pizza Hut is on the bottom of the list for pretty much everyone here. They still do a ton of business because in Tunkhannock there aren't a lot of options but I dont know of anyone who really goes out of their way to get it either. If you want to know how to pronounce the name of the town 'ton-can-ick'.

I live in Italy, and naturally, I’ve never seen a Pizza Hut here. This year, I visited Madrid, and the moment I set foot in Plaza Mayor, I rushed inside but I had to make a reservation and wait outside. The place was modern—nothing special, really—with just enough room for two people, at most, to grab a quick bite. As soon as I saw that Pizza Hut sign, I thought of this video and knew it was fate telling me to go inside. Nothing extraordinary happened in there, but thanks for everything; you create real emotion through your videos, whether you're pissed off or not about some shitty videogame.
