The last time I rented something from a video store was around 2013 (Tomb Raider ps3, I think). It took until around 2022 for the Friday night "let's go to the video store" instinct to stop.

I feel like Tubi is the spiritual successor to digging around mom & pop video stores for obscure stuff and hidden gems. They have a TON of obscure 60s-80s movies. They're also the closest to what Netflix used to be as simply a catalog of classics rather than the delivery platform for originals (95% of which suck) it's become.

Public Library is a great rental place nowadays. The only issue is there’s only one of each thing, and not everything is on the format you want to watch it on, or for the game system you want to play the game on, but given how it costs nothing to get a library card or rent something, it’s a fair compromise

I would never rent or borrow a adult tape from those places or anybody. You know they never cleaned the tapes or the boxes. So your touching another guys junk probably.
