UNITY Peer Guide Reflections: Cheyenne’s advice for future youth advocates
Interviews with the visionary Peer Guides who designed the Healing Indigenous Lives Initiative training and resources for Native youth who have experienced trauma or violence. Peer Guide Cheyenne is a Seminole and Chilean woman, an advocate for Indigenous people, and a former Miss Indian World. She has utilized her platform as an ambassador to overturn adverse stereotypes and stigmatizations of mental health in tribal communities and encourage healing through identity and self-love. She proudly works with many organizations and presents on topics such as culture as prevention, empowerment, Native youth outreach, identity, human trafficking, domestic violence, and much more. Cheyenne strives for authenticity and to live a healthy life physically, mentally, and spiritually through her culture and teachings.
