The Panama Canal conundrum : Panamas political obduracy and hubris trying to stare down the Trump administration is ridiculously easy to resolve, if you have any sense of history.

Panama gained its independence from Colombia in 1903.

The stick with no carrot would be for the Trump administration to advise Panamas political elite through diplomatic channels that they either return the ports to US control, or the West Wing of the Whitehouse will green light Colombia annexing the canal state again, in 2026.

Panamas grifting sleazy politicos will fall over their penny loafers to make a deal with Administration #47…..

Even if every country in the world — minus one — were to formally open its markets to American goods with zero tariffs, that wouldn’t guarantee a surge in U.S. exports. Trade is not just about price. It’s about trust and respect — two currencies the United States has devalued by sending Trump to the world stage as its representative.

To understand how America arrived at this point — and how it might find its way back — read the epilogue of Fort Knox: The Greatest Heist of All Time. Some truths can only be told through fiction.

Lutnick has no idea about China after being excluded from the meeting. Trump is probably unhappy they didn't catch China's retaliation and promise him a "swift victory" only for it to turn into a full route with US conceding and embarrassingly rollbacking back all their policies.
