Did you know that the insane amount of poaching done by humans to these majestic beauties has caused them to evolve to a point where the males either never grow tusks or only small, practically useless tusks? Which extra sucks for male elephants because females don't want to mate with tuskless males. So poaching isn't only pushing these animals to extinction by murdering them for the tusks they still have but by affecting them on an evolutionary level. No tusks= no mates. No tusks= no weapons for defense. Humans can be the greediest, ugliest, nastiest species. There's just not enough of us working together, on a common goal, to effect real, positive change in a timely fashion. HeckWesternstern civilization what we protest is even self-centered. Just pull at that thread and follow it along. You'll see what I mean. The internet has turned us into conceited, self-absorbed, wasteful, oxygen thieves for the most part. Our politicians are just an example of what our society has become. These and other beautiful creatures from our planet are paying the price. With all the tools at our disposal, we could make this world into a utopia for all living things, but we don't. All we want is more. More wealth, more popularity, more influence, more power, more control. We are the only species on this planet that never feels full.

I’ve seen horses behave in a similar manner. Lost in a forest of legs. De Frank ;he makes jokes. He is silly funny.
No joke, if I dropped a baby. I’d kill anything near if I can. At least not hesitate.

My husband and I were on a weekend away, and I was watching tv. I was watching Animal planet and the scene with the Elephant taking poop right out of the other elephants butt, came on. I was so excited I called my husband to come watch, much to his disgust. I had never seen something so strange before.

Okay, so the misnomer that humans only use 10% of our brain is wrong. We use 100% of our brain, but science can't figure out more than 10%. Elephants are the same. Actually, they can figure out how to speak to us in our language. Check out Ze Frank, the episode on elephants, and otherwise, any of his posts. They're brilliant. Funny, scientifically accurate. A great watch.
Educate yourself however you can. Animals that we, as humans, have always thought to be inferior, aren't. It's a kick in the gut as to the reality that we aren't necessarily the smartest species on the planet. We're not the only ones with language. We're not the only species that rape (boo dolphins), We're not the only species with language that can be mapped. It's been discovered that whales can form sentences in the same way we do … one sound linked to another to form a word, and then "words" made into sentences, just like human language.
It's time that humans climb off of their high horse and realize that other species communicate as effectively as we do … but that the reality of living doesn't include wealth or power.
THAT is an entirely human failing. And it will be our demise.
We're not smarter than other species. Actually, we're dumber in the way of the world. Wealth actually means nothing more than we assign to it. And money will be our demise. Animals don't have that burden.
