By far the greatest line I’ve seen to perfectly incapsulate the nonsense. Race is not a thing, so there for you cannot be transracial, in the same way that gender is not a thing, so you can not be transgender.

You’re whitewashed, real black people know being black is a state of mind and that transrace people are valid. I am a WtB transrace man and we actually feel crippling race dysphoria, we feel like we’re meant to have a different body and we feel disconnected from our race. Also those identifying as a different race just for benefits ain’t real transrace people.

It's the Same premise my dude. In the same way a male cannot be a female when they feel like it. Gender is an extension of Sex and gender is assigned to you by birth. Even intersex folks are still either male or female when we look at genetics, anatomy etc…

Thank you for this video.I don’t mean to be ignorant or obnoxious I just couldn’t wrap my head around how being transracial was different from being transgender. I’m still having difficulty understanding it but it is probably because I don’t quite understand race in general.Your video helped me to understand this more so thank you!

I honestly just have never cared much about what people identify as because it doesn’t really give me much information about them specifically as a person. And it doesn’t really affect me.I realise this can come off as obnoxious and egocentric and thats why I’m trying to educate myself more.

You make no sense. “Even though race isn’t really a thing, it’s still important to acknowledge.” Like… come on. if you consider gender a social construct, and you consider race a social construct, and you accept people identifying as a different gender than assigned, then you logically must accept that people can identify as a different race than assigned.

I also don't think it is a thing but every argument you said like could also be used against transsexuality. you can't feel like a man or a woman and it depends on context as well. There are no characteristics or roles tied to the sexes.

I watched a TedX talk where a guy said that "We're taught that race is real, but it doesn't matter. The reality is the opposite: race is NOT real, but it DOES matter."

I think you're spot-on on the race thing, which you probably know better than I, a nonblack woman, but have fallen prey to misinformation and disinformation on gender. All the scientific evidence you cited is based on assumptions, and I don't blame you. People have been pushing this ideology as science with little scientific evidence and a deliberate misleading meant to fool anyone outside of the natural sciences for some time.

I mean if she passed as black and wanted to be black, what's the harm in saying they're black? Did they actually do anything wrong? (At this point I am 1:07 in for context, and know nothing of this woman.)

I am raced White by society, but I am not White. This is not my identity. That's quite different than me saying I'm Black, which I certainly am not. And I won't deny that I am raced White by society. But I refuse to consent to this label as an identity. There are plenty of other things I identify myself by, including more specific ancestry than "White" could ever be. "White" is merely code for "master race," and that's disgusting and ought to be soundly rejected by anyone who "passes."

Rachel Dolezal could do as I do, without claiming the Black identity and she'd be fine.

I think both race and gender are constructs; the difference is that the idea of race is tied, in the societal mind, to ancestry, parentage, geographical origin, and so on, where gender is not tied to any of these things. Gender is thus a private matter of identity while race has implications about one's ethnicity and cultural upbringing.

It is fine to enjoy or take certian parts of cultures if you're not that race, but I do not think its fine to pretend to be a race you are not. Race, unlike gender identity, is something you cannot change.
