Tower Bridge Fighter Jet Incident | Tales From the Bottle

Qxir | August 2, 2025

This jet pilot decided to stage a protest in the skies of London, but his actions became more well known for an incident that occurred on his journey home.

“The Hawker Hunter Tower Bridge incident occurred on 5 April 1968 when Royal Air Force (RAF) Hawker Hunter pilot Alan Pollock performed unauthorised low flying over several London landmarks and then flew through the span of Tower Bridge on the Thames. His actions were to mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of the RAF and as a demonstration against the Ministry of Defence for not recognising it.
Upon landing he was arrested and later invalided out of the RAF on medical grounds, which avoided a court martial.”

"Thaymes?" Please. Saying it that way is like pronouncing the name of the river Dublin sits on L-U-F-F-E-Y. The correct pronunciation is TEMZ. Though those "patriots" on the Connecticut coast pronounce theirs the way you do. Their Thames River is not the original one; London's is.

As a Zimbabwean/Anglo-African of British stock, I say three cheers and a salute for Alan Pollock. The very definition of a Lion-Hearted British patriot and hero. He makes us all proud to be British, no matter where we are in the Commonwealth. The best of the best. He certainly showed Harold "Bloody" Wilson and the insufferably useless, corrupt UK government. My blessings, greetings, best wishes, kind thoughts to him and his family. 🫡🫡🦁🦁👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻💯💯🇬🇧🇬🇧

Uk has 137 EF main fighter jets. 556 in total fixed wing jets. I think this pilot was right. This is way too little for a country like GB. Stop bragging about “free healthcare” and buy some jets instead.

Sorry he never should have had been exonerated he committed a crime oh boo fucking who you didn’t get a parade maybe its the people who couldn't give a shit and you decided like it's designed to blame the government. If he crashed then what there could have been other air traffic and money lots from interruptions from a dumb ass in a plane. Also the military sector takes the most money from every country why, why isn't it involving peacekeeping or a global government working as one there's multiple leaders why don't they run the world.

I live near an air base in Canada and honestly other than the bridge part I'd have just assumed it was some sort of escort for a VIP or training run. Crazy shit like this happens all the time with sign off from top brass. Especially the helis. Those guys do low pass training all the time.

Makes you proud to be British! That is the best way to protest. No damage, no acts of vandalism, no disruption to peoples lives and no alienating people from your cause.

here in brazil the air force pressured the supreme court in an important decision by """"ACCIDENTALY""" sonic booming over their building and shattering everything (its a glass front). since then the supreme court only uses bulletproof glass all-around

Give my boy his Hawker Hunter back! Dude has the balls to fly under the bridge at 400+ mph and fly inverted over his mate's hangar and they discharge him for it??

0:44 your information must be wrong, that is clearly James Hetfield in that photo. Though he would have been 5 at the time, so somehow he must have gone back in time to steal the plane.

Qxir… I love your channel man. Your work is great. I tune in regularly and have watched nearly every video you have ever made.

…But I can't let this go… what the actual fuck did you just call the River Thames?
