Honest to God- I often get anxious and depressed when I hear sirens. It’s hard to stop my brain from falling into a thought spiral of whatever pain someone could be in. Your “lady having a baby” quote is sticking with me. It’s a wonderful, humorous way to interrupt the thought spirals. ❤

Honestly pretty miserable here over the sheer mass of anxiety in the air over trans people. I basically have to come out to the federal government ASAP if I want to get a passport with an "F" gender marker, or else potentially be left with no legal way out of the country. I've barely started HRT and I'm not even out to most of my online friends, let alone IRL. My state promises to protect me for a while but idk if it'll last until the regime ends. Who knows how much power consolidation they'll do before the next election. Sure the Don is lazy and has a golf addiction but he could collapse at any moment, but Vance is so much more dangerous.
The system seems too broken to fix from within, and its benefactors too powerful to fix from the outside. I don't have enough of a career to emigrate either (and transitioning certainly won't make that any easier). Everything's just so fucked.

I am and was bisexual all my life. I am 64. And basically only my diferent partners know this. Not that I hid anything but I am from ageneration where sexuality is rathwr private. So under Donald Trump, maybe just lay low for a while. Usually people are very little attentive if you do not directly confront them.

If you want to do an episode on religion, make sure to check out Mia Mulder's video essay "Atheism And Religion". This is the one I'm refering non-religious people to, as she speaks about her experience of faith from a non-confessional perspective. All too often the discussion of religion from non-believers – whether sceptics or not – focuses solely on what I would call "religious views", overlooking the experience of faith which for many religious people is the motivation for holding on to a religion in the first place. It's much easier for a religious person to change their religious views or theological positions than to swich/abandon a religion.

So what's the super short version of story with Chinese social credit scores? Everyone appears to be saying it works like that one episode of Black Mirror.
EDIT: So I looked this up. Apparently the larger companies each have their own social credit score system they assign their own consumers. These companies are also linked to Data Brokers who provide profile matches to all consumer's individual names. It's not like Black Mirror where everyone has a single state recognized social credit score. In America, 3 companies keep a credit score for us so in a way that's even worse.

On religion idea: as a fellow Brit it has been very confusing for me moving to NA and seeing how they deal with religion, something you'd need to get your head round for sure.
In the UK I was taught Protestantism and reading from the bible etc but over here it seems really focused on what a priest talks about. Seems to have very little grounding in the teachings of the bible itself. It's a very different form of Christianity to what we were exposed to in the UK.
