In the case of Mastodon I wonder if something's wrong with me or the metal "reviewers" feel their job is just to cheerlead…☹☹☹. Doubt most of them can recall a single distinct riff or melody from Marrow Deep. And u wonder why metal is taken off award shows…

Holy Cow that Mastodon album is amazing, my favorite song of it is The Vanishing, it's probably the most Sabbath esq song, I've heard in a long time.

Dude! How did Triosphere get missed? This is the comeback band of the year after being gone for 12 years, and a top 10 album of the year. Ida Haukland's voice is as powerful as ever! Xenith put out a good one and I will check out Angioxa

I love albums that aren't for everyone. Coward Kill Coward definitely isn't for me, but I tried. The way it started out reminded me of Savages by The Dali Thundering Concept, now just DALI. It is one of my all-time favorite albums. I love albums that are an experience to listen to front to back.

Any of you who have not listened to their album "Leading Vision" really need to get on that. Little knowing look at Kamelot's album name being a very power metal album title, In The Shadows Of A Funerary Gleam is definitely a very black metal album name.
That said, Kamelot are incredibly power metal, this being the latest largely narrative songs based album about a haunted abandoned asylum.
