This Might Be Cathy Mitchell’s Nicest Infomercial Ever

Matteo Lane | January 19, 2026

Cathy Mitchell has never been this sweet. In this Power Cooker infomercial, she is calm, pleasant, and honestly… kind of adorable? We react to this surprisingly wholesome side of Cathy and try to figure out how we ended up rooting for her.

If you’ve seen the chaotic Cathy era, this one is a complete plot twist — in the best way.

“No one’s calling anymore” my dad still calls for dominos and they always act so confused I’m like “dad no one does orders over the phone anymore, so they’re not used to it 😂”

I have a multi-pot (different brand and more options but basically the same) and I mostly use it for rice. You don’t have to cook 10 cups of rice it only cooks based on how much water you put in lol
So 1 cup rice to 1 cup water and hit the rice option and it cooks in 12 minutes (once warmed up).

For cooking rice without a cooker, just follow the instructions on the bag. If you need to scale up or down you can either: follow 1:2 measurement (1 part rice to 2 parts liquid) or the middle finger method, basically whatever the amount of rice put enough water that when you put your middle finger on top of the rice the water reaches the 1st line on your finger where the top of your middle finger bends. Then bring it up to a boil and immediately reduce to low, cover for 12 minutes. At 12 minutes take the lid off and fluff the rice with a fork. That's it. Get good at making basic white rice and then you can make other flavors easier.

Bahahahahahah I got a power cooker for Christmas in like 2016 when the instant pot was going CRAZY. That thing is still going strong even though the front panel is a little melted. I never knew Cathy Mitchell did commercials for it, I’m honored now lol

    I don't know which model she's using

but it's possible to cook 1 whole chicken + 2 chicken cut-up pieces.

3 chickens cut-up pieces in an Instant Pot Duo 8 pressure cooker is easy.
then Drain chickens cut-up pieces from the broth.
Place the chicken on the grill or airfryer .
Add water and sauce to Instant Pot Duo 8 chicken broth .
Then add rice or pasta for 9 person .

The Instant Pot Duo 6 can cook 6.6 pounds of 3 cut-up chicken pieces.

However, it's impossible to cook enough rice or pasta for 9 people in the Instant Pot Duo 6
because the rice and pasta expand, and the Instant Pot Duo 6 is only 6 quarts.
I might have to cut the rice or pasta in half to cook it in the Instant Pot Duo 6.

But with the Instant Pot Duo 8 and its 8-quart capacity, it's much easier to cook enough rice for 9 people at once

    so it is doable

Most of the recipes Kathy mentions are meant for when you crave something specific
late at night or in the morning. There aren't many pizzerias open late at night or in the morning.

And don't forget, she's a mom from the Baby Boomers generation, and her kids are mostly Millennials.
Most of them want pizza at 7 a.m., and you can't convince or stop them.
When they reach adolescence, they'll crave pizza 2 hours after eating a good meal.
So, there won't be a single frozen pizza left in their house, whether it's homemade or from a restaurant or store.

You're speaking from a family background that's deeply invested in Italian cuisine.
She's talking about quick solutions for mothers and children who have constant cravings and desire food at wrong times
other than when they're cooking it or ordering it , and restaurant orders put a strain on the family budget.

When Kathy said "one-pot method," she meant the Arabic way of cooking pasta, not the Italian way.
And they really do like it cooked completely, until the pasta melts in your mouth.
But Arabs cook the meat thoroughly first, then add the sauce, water, and then the pasta.

27:56 9 ppl? Well, if it’s a beef cattle farm, one usually has meatloaf 4-5 days a week; no I am not kidding I grew up on one. (“Mother” just pours more BBQ sauce over the last, congealed slathering to make the ‘dad’ feel like he’s getting “FRESH COW!”
The sides don’t even change much, all but one. That one, is what you look forward to… even if it’s a can of mini-orange slices, swapped from the cans of corn and, hardly “mashed” potatoes” all the kids go for it asap to avoid the utter redundancy b4 the 4AM slavery when your bedroom door is kicked open and all you hear is “WORK!” (I was 8, possibly 7-1/2 can’t remember now & good; distinctly recall the kick and slam of the door from the shit-covered boot, every single morning, tho).

Ugh, meatloaf… my most hated of all loaves.
