I have heard and read of stories of extra-terrestrials visiting earth, maybe they landed on earth to see for themselves what kind of beings we are, intelligent or otherwise.

But seriously, it's a real problem to try and figure out what we can send that an alien intelligence can understand–lots of assumptions have to be made. But Morse code? Really?? Sure, they could figure out the dots and dashes as being an attempt at intelligent communication, but there's no way they'll figure out that the dots and dashes represent letters, and that the letters combine to make words, since that's all arbitrary and based on tradition. Unless you could include actual words to go with the dots and dashes, which would be difficult to do with radio waves.

The scientific stuff is great, because presumably an alien civilization would have its own scientific nerds who would be looking at it–but again, that's just an assumption that their civilization would be somewhat similar to our own. Otherwise, I'm thinking photographs and sounds would be the best thing to send, but you'd need to send a LOT of them, not just cars and people drinking in weird ways, to represent the variety of things we have on earth.

Why add short hair to the male and long hair to the female? Why add hair at all? Why not add pubic hair? Why not add body hair? I guess the obvious answer is the golden disks were not really for aliens as much as they were for other humans. And the fact they literally couldn't bring themselves to draw a vulva for an anatomical drawing is absolutely insane.

Like theoretical aliens are just going to be like "there are two sentient species on this planet, the larger one has a bottom proboscis we theorize for sensing danger in their environment. The smaller one lacks a bottom proboscis, but has much more prominent tentacles on their head for eating. We believe the tentacles push resources through the two orifices (eyes, but they just see 2D blobs that could be anything) and expel them out the larger orifice below (mouth). Their massive brains and hearts are contained within their thorax. Our scientists are almost certain this is true because it would be crazy if they just hid a few orifices from us because they were embarrassed, right?"
