People complaining about the art style is wild. Did they not play 4 and 5. The 3d art style was garbage. First three had pretty cool art styles.

I don't care if this video is "old." I'm glad that I came across your page. I'm only into a handful of Point & Click games. I wouldn't say that I'm a fan of the genre, but I'm absolutely a fan of the SCUMM/LucusArts era and Double Fine's Grim Fandango / Full Throttle games. I suck at all these games but I'm completely emerged in the characters, atmosphere/worlds, and writing.
It's really a shame that for people like me who have been doing their history on the genre, and would love to play the classics, we have no LEGAL way in doing so.
I feel so lame for never buying Monkey Island 1 and 2 remaster for XBOX 360 / PS3, and even mobile. All these games are delisted, minus Double Fine's.

I recently played this game without having played the rest (I wanted a more lighthearted game for once, and since I adored the art style and like pirates it seemed fun.) Honestly it was a very enjoyable experience, and for the most part I didn't feel hindered by not knowing older stuff. That said, without spoiling it, the ending doesn't work as well if you play the game as a standalone. But I can't blame em for that.

I used to watch my older brother play the curse of monkey island, I loved the artwork for the game and the music. He would be there with paper and pencil making sure he had the insults right for the sword fights.

The Curse of Monkey Island is still to this day one of the best video games I've ever played! The humor is unmatched! I miss when video games were great like this one. I haven't played the new one yet. The art style is indeed very weird and offputting.

Just got this game, I think I’m halfway thru act 4ish, so good! As a lover of the original monkey island games(when I was much younger) it was great to have a recap and the way the game was made is so far perfect! 👌🥰🍻

Just played thru it, it was awesome. Love how you get to know Le Chuck's crew a little bit actually.
If I may have criticism tho, there were way too many items in my inventory by the end. That's always a gripe for me in these games.
I feel like MI 5 did a much better job annihilating useless items from your inventory between chapters.

Just like you, the moment I saw Guybrush on Mele island with the lookout still standing there I got this huge rush of excitement and nostalgia. I'm replaying the game a second time to unlock all achievements. All I have to say is, Thank you Ron and the team at TTB.
Aww. This is where I risked my neck for Elaine and she showed me she only needed me to risk my heart. Also the windows need some work.

I just don't understand who the ending was _for_. It seemed designed to get back at people who hated the original ending to two (despite it being SO perfect, of course he was a child, have you SEEN what happened with Elaine).
At the same time, who played this game? People who loved the original, and the family/friends they wanted to share it with. My partner and I had so much fun playing this game, then I got the "pleasure" of having to explain the ending to them (you see, back in 1991 there was this game…..)

I mean, it works as an independent entity of the original 2 games, but the whole point of Ron Gilbert being back was to finally get a conclusion to the trilogy so swing and a miss

Even though I enjoyed the game a lot because it lacked the ability to use every item with everything it made the game feel like a 'put-peg-in-hole' game you could essentially brute force and could be completed by a monkey clicking around items on things and conversation options at random.
