SLACK! : NOSTALGIA

This Bundle Fooled Everyone

Nostalgia Nerd | October 21, 2026

Thank you to Proton Pass for sponsoring, secure your life at http://www.proton.me/nostalgianerd ~ The Commodore 64 Terminator 2 Bundle was one of the most iconic C64 packs. It managed to turn a 10 year old computer into something that wasn’t only appealing, but something that almost saved Commodore’s fortunes.

I still can’t believe people were buying C64s in the early 90s. By Christmas of 87-88 those damn things were in every second hand shop and old coat closet in the country and people were giving their old ones away to get new consoles and much better PCs

I was wandering around a shop in '98 and saw this bundle for sale new for £50. Sold!
I didn't even need it as I still had my breadbin from '86 and two 64C's but always nice to have (another) spare.

I had a T2 bundle (I would've been 7 at the time), but my brother had also got a C64 the previous year and we shared a bedroom. So we basically had a spare C64 unit, power pack, and for some reason, an extra datasette. All of our other games were on cassette. I still have them. I don't remember that magazine though. That might have been exclusive to one retailer?

Thinking back, I can’t recall anyone using their home slab computer for anything educational. Even those with printers had their work rejected because teachers insisted on everything being handwritten. I remember two South African girls who joined our class and typed their English essay once, only to be told to rewrite it by hand, never trying again. On the Amiga, the most anyone seemed to use Workbench for was making the speech command swear or insult people, for about thirty seconds of amusement. And despite parents buying these machines for “educational purposes,” I never knew any who questioned what their kids were doing on them, when in reality, they were just gaming.

So the data cassette versions of games & software weren't modified when they were put onto the cartridge?
Is it possible for someone to create a keyboard peripheral for the Commodore game console? It looks more in common with a Sega Master System Mark 1!

We had a Disk Drive pack, at some point the main unit failed and was sent for repair.
We were so excited when it came back in this Terminator 2 box, and then incredibly disappointed when it didn't have the cartridge inside.
