This Asteroid Is Getting Dangerously Close to Earth

An asteroid the size of a cruise ship is about to fly closer to Earth than our own satellites, and radar still can’t agree on whether it’s one rock or two fused together. NASA has ruled out any impact. But Apophis is tumbling in a way that shouldn’t be possible, and in 2029, Earth’s own gravity is going to reshape it live, while two spacecraft race to watch. This is the story of the strangest close call in recorded history.

    I wonder if now the earth is highly charged,which changes Earths gravity slightly,we can't know how our gravity will be then supposing it is slightly higher than normal fluctuations,,,,,,,LLLTJ

    Its like trying to hit a bullet with another bullet. Heading towards 🌎 doesn't exist nothing is catching up with us either do y'all even know how fast we are moving. Millions of km just in the time it took my to type this crap

    Apophis is currently invisible from Earth (too close to the Sun). WE CANNOT SEE IT UNTIL 2027!!

    Any unexpected nudge cannot be detected or trajectory-updated until the next major observing window: February–April 2027 (large telescopes).

    Currently (Aug 2026) solar elongation is ~30°, magnitude ~21.5 in Leo—too close to the Sun and too faint for practical optical recovery.

    It stays poorly placed through late 2026. The first useful post-conjunction recovery window for 4m+ telescopes is Feb–Apr 2027 (evening sky, northern hemisphere preferred).

    A second, longer window follows Dec 2027–Jun 2028.Full professional campaigns are already planned around these dates via IAWN. No earlier reliable ground optical recovery is expected.

    Sure, it is no big deal, that's why billionaires all over thr world are building bunkers. Excuse me if I don’t fill my 2029 calendar with appointments for dog grooming, lawn services, dress fittings, and getting my nails done.

    800m is pretty close to half a mile. If thats the window of moa as it cuts a rug across our bow, it has quite a generous margin of success. Its much closer than you want two aircraft to be in the same airspace, for example.

    The late Dr. Tom Horn wrote a book about Apophis, it’s entitled The Wormwood Prophecy. In it he describes a vision he had of Apophis striking the Earth on Friday, April 13th, 2029.
