If you tried to kill a political figure, you could probably expect to only be known for that, right?

“Peter Raymond Kocan (born Peter Raymond Douglas, 4 May 1947) is an Australian author and poet, best known for his attempted assassination of Opposition Leader Arthur Calwell on 21 June 1966. He fired a shot at point-blank range through a car window, but Calwell escaped with only minor facial injuries from broken glass. Kocan, 19 years old at the time, was sentenced to life imprisonment. He was transferred to the Morisset Mental Hospital and released in 1976. He began writing in prison and has published several volumes.”

    Member of the New South Wales Legislative Council Robert Borsak, of the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party, once said he ate elephant he shot in Africa. As an avid hunter in a country largely devoid of guns, who could blame him? It was a meal that both Borsak and the meal itself would never forget 🤣

I tell you I wish our current head of state would disappear but watch this mother f*** get elected a third term.. might be heading to Ireland.. at least y'all got some green party in your Parliament

    i saw the title and thought the video was about John Hinckley Jr., the attempted assassin of then US President Ronald Reagan who started publishing music in 2020 and made several attempts at releasing music, putting on events, and even opening up a music store, though these were each met with varying degrees of failure

    7:33 I don't get why everyone is so confused about the memorial swimming center. It's obvious, "No, swim HERE – you prolly won't disappear." If he'd had that swimming center, he'd be around today.

    4:07 That's really depressing. Goes to show just how dehumanizing and alienating modern society can be, to the point people come to the conclusion that murdering someone important will somehow improve their lot. Really sad stuff the more you think about it.

    Edit: Now that's one hell of an 180. Glad this story didn't end the way most people would imagine. 8:03 is actually kind of inspiring.

    To add to the entertaining Aussie politics at the start, it should be mentioned that an Aussie PM (Bob Hawke) held the world record for drinking a yard glass of beer quickly. Sadly he achieved this as a student, rather than in office.
