Every time i watch one of these vids to feel less suicidal they never work. I still don't have any reasons to not kill myself. All of these vids just feel completely meaningless. Nothing has worked.

beautiful, thank you. "you will be a bad person, too." and "people are just doing things" really hit me. i feel that the older i get, the less i want to think about any and all of this, the more i just want to do things. 'you will begin to accept this, the noise, the light, the mess.' what appeared mindless in youth now appears the only way of proceeding without losing one's mind entirely; in it, there seems to be salvation. to stop questioning, constantly, why, and to just latch on to the little few things that really spark joy, pretending each and every day they will be yours forever.

I mean personally I feel like meaning of life wasn’t actually intended for us, since our consciousness is a phenomenon in space. Does that mean life is nothing? Well yes, but that shows there isn’t a “correct” way to live life, just a suggested one by others. I like to think that even though there’s no direction, idea of life is more like a canvas we can paint on. If you think life is for suffering, experience, or for happiness, then that’s on you, that’s on all of us.

…Hopefully I understood the video’s context tho, otherwise I’m spitting straight up useless concepts 😭

I am rather an optimist, I suppose, and I've been told that I'm different in some ways than others. A friend and I discussed an idea: If you had the choice to hit a button and experience the worst pain possible for a minute, and then experience an hour of the best pleasure/joy after, would you? I personally like to believe that if given this choice, would choose yes, to experience that excruciating, mind breaking pain, just to feel that pleasure. Some people I've asked this have completely said no, they would never want to experience the worst possible pain, just to experience the best possible pleasure. But I think that no only is the pursuit of joy and pleasure worthwhile, I also think that pain and suffering is much more endurable when there is a why, or a reason for it. I can't see a way that life wouldn't be worth it, because for every little moment where things sit still, leafs on bugs, calm water, moments with loved ones- I am reminded of beauty and love. and this can sustain me, through the chaos and the noise.

I liked this video for succinctly summarizing and, indeed, humanizing the abstract dissatisfaction with life and the quest for meaning that we all face.

But I want to challenge if this video really contributes anything novel to the discourse.

One of the reasons I signed up for this channel (and became a Patron) is the multitude of perspectives that this channel presented (alongside your own very unique take!) on these challenges of finding meaning.

This channel was where I first encountered Camus. The latest videos on trying to find meaning through creativity-routines (a day in life of Freud, Eco, Skinner, Hemmingway) catapulted this channel (IMHO) to a completely different plane, because now we're no longer cigarette-puffing, quietly despairing, shoe-gazing philosophers: but we're trying to actually put into practice what we're thinking about. We're trying to build sustainable life systems around belief systems, rather than let the banality of life systems shape belief systems.

I hope you're taking care of yourself, bud. Looking forward to hearing from this channel, soon!

I fundamentally disagree with this way of thinking about life. I understand many people feel this way but i'm on another side of living and it's so much better than this. Everything is meaningful, I live to live and do what I do because it is my choice and I have agency and I don't make decisions out of obligation or resignation. I know this depression is strong and real but please offer another model to young people because as much as this is poetic it is unproductive in my opinion
