The Untold Story of Blonde Redhead’s Explosive Beginnings

Poetic Wax | November 2, 2025

Conflict and creativity. Connection and chaos. Love and hate. These all defined Blonde Redhead in their early days, and the themes continue to drive them after more than three decades. This is the story of how the band came together — three foreigners on the streets of New York City — to create one of the most fascinating bands in modern alternative and indie rock. This is the story behind Blonde Redhead’s debut self-titled album.

Great video! Love this band; their sound feels limitless like they always know how to change things up while still keeping the sound so deeply emotional and so deeply blonde redhead

It's not often I comment or like videos on YouTube, but this video gave me an insight to a band I've loved since I heard A Cure on a 411vm skate video. I think it was number 42. I was about 12 years old.
It stuck with me and back then it wasn't easy to find music like nowadays. But not too long after I learned about limewire and was able to experience a whole new style of music I feel like helped mold me. The emotions, the noise, the whole experience was so new .

Anyway I'm glad now that I'm 37 and able to look up information like this years after my initial infatuation. Thanks for this one. Giving me more insight to a band i feel helped me connect with my feelings deeper.
