Man I love your guys’ videos but I have no plans of paying for anything past YouTube. Sorry You guys are funny but your channel alone doesn’t justify another monthly payment like it’s a whole streaming channel or something

We had this on Laser Disc along with Stir Crazy, Bustin Loose and Live on Sunset. Probably seen each one at least 50 times. Pryor was amazing. Pryor and Wilder were also such a great team.

"I've got this great new script, it is a period piece set in the American south during the mid 1800s"
"No, I just told everyone, we're not doing anymore slave films for awhile. You're fired!"
"Let's do a movie about a rich white person that buys a black person with the expectation he does whatever the rich person wants."
    "Go on…"

My mother actually took my little brother and I to see this, in the theater, when I was six.

Surprisingly, this film did not lead to a resurgence in the popularity of the whole owning other humans thing, at least not in the U.S.; there are other countries where it never really went out of fashion, of course, but I don't think this movie played in those areas. Go figure.

You can't blame us for The Toy, nor The Birdcage; they're both based on preexisting, French, movies, from the '70s.

Gosh flashback, just remembered renting this as a kid in the 80s! I remember I watched as many times as I could before it was due back the next day. 📺 🍿 😎

Having no idea what this movie is and going just off this teaser, I'm not sure I want to look up how it goes from "Richard Pryor's character does too many drugs and sets himself on fire" to "Richard Pryor is a goofy night janitor in a toy store"

I always wondered why America liked to adopt the movies, filming their own instead of introducing the originals, because isn't this simply a movie plot of a French movie, which is also called The Toy, with a spoilt kid who gets a person for a toy.

You should definitely do a this aged great on the Richard Pryor movie moving !!! There are some fairly suspect scenes that could reap some good comedy! I can’t remember that other film he was in wear he played a surgeon but that shit was ridiculous too !!!!

Ned Beatty figuratively pantsed by an eight year old. Only in America could a no talent blitherer elevate himself in a career of portraying himself as a willing victim of forcible sodomy.

I haven't read all 150 comments so this may have already been mentioned.
As I recall, in one of his comedy specials R. Pryor talked about having crabs. And I think he put cologne or something on his junk and deliberately caught it on fire to get rid of the crabs.
That might have been a different "caught on fire" episode. Or I might be thinking of a different comedian.
Great channel! I discovered you (YouTube algo discovered you for me) yesterday and I'm subbed and catching up on your videos!

Freebasing cocain involves ether, which is very very flammable. Just the fumes are dangerous flammable. So add someone beyond hi on drugs, a lighter they are using to consume the drugs and a dangerous flammable chemical that quickly turns into fumes if the bottle is left open and thats how pryor lit himself on fire.
