When it came to the guy who made the ¨Next emo anthem¨ I honestly just thought it was wholesome! Like I think the song is awful, but I couldn't care less about my opionon regarding the song because I could see the he was enjoying himself. I thought the rest would think something similar but it was so sad just to see the amount of hate he was getting for literally no reasons besides being a little corny

i mean to be fair when people do this to people who are not online creators they are not looking for an apology or any of that so it doesn't really matter if they know how to apologize online. the point is that they hopefully wont ever do whatever they are being held accountable for again becuase they wont want the online hate again. and just becuase its not someone's job to do something that doesn't mean they shouldn't do it. its not my job to to help someone when they need help but i still do it. im not saying that you always SHOULD do something that isn't your job but when talking about something where people are gonna have divided opinions using that as a point for why you shouldn't do something doesn't make sense.

The federal government could easily track down the criminals slandering online; but most of those turn out to be children. So, they don't even bother wasting the money to track them down majority of the time.

culturally, we need to bring back the concept of a town crier in the us. make it less personal, have a figurehead to give us (the masses) the deets, the way we used to do advice columns and bulletin boards

Shit like this is why I was so confused when everyone talked about TikTok (when it was taken down) like it was such a safe haven. TikTok has NEVER been anything but a negative cesspool.

saw this with the tennis match guy taking a hat from a kid thing and the phillie baseball 'karen' that had a baseball taken from her hands and she walked over and talked to the guy. like… yeah the guy taking the hat from a kid is a dick…. he doesnt need to lose his position at his company and have his company review bombed by randoms online. the phillie baseball lady literally did nothing wrong and people were trying to find out all they could about her and tried to get her fired.

its absolute madness… yeah people are getting caught doing crappy things mroe often now now that social media and camera phones are a thing.. doesnt mean we need to ruin peoples careers and businesses over it. not even close.

i had someone tell me they wanted the tennis hat guy to resign from his job because it was so bad….. i just cant argue against such an insane stance.

I was thinking about Andy Negative right before you mentioned him. Apparently after Danny Gonzalez's video on it, a bunch of Gregs (his subscribers) went to his page to leave ENCOURAGING comments on his video. I think that's really sweet.

Venting is fine but personally I think it should be kept pretty vague and it shouldn't involve pictures or videos of the other person. Like, vent about the interaction and why it rubbed you the wrong way, don't leave breadcrumbs for Big Brother wannabes.

Idk, in countries with deeply inadequate consumer protection, I don't blame somebody for posting about things that cost several hours, days or weeks' worth of their work

THIS is actual cancel culture. not criticizing racist or predatory celebrities who will always have money and fans, but doxxing, review bombing and bullying regular people AND their families and coworkers over relatively minor mistakes and petty drama that doesn't personally involve you. the internet is FOREVER, so if you participate in this kind of behavior then you don't actually CARE about accountability.

the entitlement people have over a creator's works is unreal, i remember as a young artist as i started to mature and learn more i had endless comments how "my old work was better" and i "should" or "needed" to do this… infuriating! i think it's a very odd thing to feel entitled to say directly to someone.

i think more people should get back into blogging honestly. like i also love complaining about things on the internet, but im,, just typing words about it? instead of posting someones literal face or business or whatever online

I disagree. I think crummy people should be held accountable. People who are “kinda shitty” are free game. Maybe people should stop being kinda shitty lol. Just make sure you’re directing it at the right person lol

see sometimes i can understand the “you posted online, you should understand it can come with consequences and criticism” but a lot of people seem to overstep the boundaries of consequences and criticism and they just end up harassing and stalking people.

When it comes to that Jake Novak guy, wasn’t that his intention? He wanted the video to be big enough for it to be seen by Lorne Michaels. He got some fame from it, even if it isn’t what he wanted. Great risks, you know?

Beck Bennet would have been recorded at Disneyland too if he worked there but had auditioned for SNL so publicly and not gotten it.

The issue was with how publicly Jake Novak did it… they have a system for hiring, and sure they have online scouts, but if that was Jake’s attempt at directly contacting Lorne… yikes. And deservedly so
