Speaking as a millennial who grew up on Nirvana, Radiohead etc. I just can't see how Sgt. Pepper is one of the best albums ever. I understand that it was ground-breaking for the time, but as a collection of songs, it is not THAT strong, and there are definitely better albums by the band. It really is over-rated. And albums like Nevermind and Ok Computer completely blow it out of the water in terms of the song-writing.

I saw a Beatles cover band (who sounded amazing) do the entire Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band in concert with an orchestra. Probably the closest to the real thing I’ll ever get; but it was magical to see. 😀😀😀

For me it’s Pink Floyd Dark Side Of The Moon and The Beatles Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. How I rate it is an album that I don’t skip 1 song.

Top 5 not in order Big Star’s Third, The Chills Brave Words, The Fall Grotesque, John Coltrane A Love Supreme, The Stooges Fun House. These are favorites not necessarily the ‘best.’ Numbers 6-10 are fluid but on most days Captain Beefheart’s Safe As Milk is up there.

Properly the wrong category but it certainly ushered in the Prog-Fusion era sound. Miles Davis – In A Silent Way – Also to mention the band line-up he assembled.

All by white (mostly) males. But a list of the 10 greatest singles of all time would include at least 8 Black artists.

Before listening I would like to give my loved ones with some liberties and not in order and not The Beatles or Pink Floyd (don't get me wrong they are my number ones)…

As a layman, I would consider Cream Disraeli Gears, Rush 2112, Iron Butterfly In A Gadda Da Vida, Beatles White Album, Jimi Hendrix Are you experienced, and Grand Funk Live. These album's were some of the first rock albums most of us heard for the first time and set into our minds for life. The list is longer but these are the first that I remember every time I think of the past.

I miss David Bowie. Most people would probably go for “Ziggy Stardust”, and in terms of music history that’s the logical choice. But my favorite is “Station to Station”…
Think that The Who should clearly be on the list, but you do mention them. Same with The Clash…
Other than that I also miss Kraftwerk.
I’ve never been much of a Heavy Metal guy, but people who are will probably miss some Black Sabbath or Deep Purple. Even I can hear that they’ve made some great music😂

To make a list like that I would have to shut out all the blah-blah-blah from the outside world which may be affecting me without me even knowing it. While I'm a big fan of Love's Forever Changes and also recognize the historical importance, I'm actually most fond of Out Here (or the Out There compilation) of all the Love and Arthur Lee albums I have in collection. it's so loose and hippie and all over the place and i just love it to pieces. The Beatles Help! It's the Beatles album I play most frequently nowadays. It is't considered as 'important' as Rubber Soul, but I love it. And so forth..

That's a fantastic list! Hard to argue with your choices, but if it were possible to shoehorn in Led Zep II and OK Computer it would for me be absolutely perfect!

I would include Patti Smith Horses in mine plus I do not want what I haven’t got Sinead O’Connor. Ok Computer would have to be there it is a masterpiece. Ok to Rumours and Pet sounds Led Zep 4 but I would ditch your JM Blue for Court and Spark or possibly Tapestry by Carole King. Dylan deserves a place but prob Blood on the Tracks and the I guess Stones Let it Bleed. Pink Floyd Wish you Were Here plus honorary mentions for DSOM and the Who’s Next. Keep up the good work though. 23:05 you have encouraged me to listen to a lot of stuff that I would probably never would have bothered if it wasn’t for your enthusiasm

Without overthinking this, my top 10 are:
10, “Pronounced” Lynyrd Skynyrd. I understand that the Allman Brothers are considered the founders of Southern Rock, but up to the plane crash…
9, Sticky Fingers. The Rolling Stones. When they truly were “The World’s Greatest Rock and Roll Band”
8, Alone Together. Dave Mason. A masterpiece, and I may have to move this up higher.
7, Abbey Road. I don’t often listen to the Beatles, but they need to be here…somewhere
6, Dire Straits, Dire Straits. Never much for shredders, I love melodic guitar players; like Mark Knopfler.
5, Santana III, the outstretched hand. Carlos Santana continues to be unique in the music he creates; this is my favorite.
4, The Way I Am. Merle Haggard. I was tempted to leave Merle off the list just because it’s Country. That would be wrong. He was at his zenith (IMO) in the first half of the 80s, releasing a string of albums, all the best that Country has to offer.
3. Cimarron. Emmylou Harris. She had to be on here. My favorite female singer since the day I heard “Boulder to Birmingham,”
2. Kiko. Los Lobos. THE American Band. The American album.
1. Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs. Derek and the Dominos. Vocals, songwriting, guitar. What more could you ask for?
