John Fogerty wrote some of the greatest rock songs of all time, but a notoriously bad contract led him into the strangest songwriting lawsuit of all time.

That's crazy! The cheek of that man (saul whatever) saying he was helping Fogerty by keeping him depressed and oppressed – a guy whose probably never made any kind of art of his own, who probably thinks that making money from artists gave him some kind of insight, who probably had some religious requirement to extract maximum profit and never let up. No respect! CCR were an amazing band!

Early '69, I was in the army,4 months to go, but saw them in Seattle, warm up band for Deep Purple $4 ticket, small place what a surprise,.
It was said John was drafted but told a Gen he could make more in taxes for the US, he was given 9 months to prove it.

This is a great example of what is wrong with our justice systems. Judges are called judges for a reason. They are supposed to use common sense where grey areas exist. And things like this are a big grey area.

It's too bad nobody likes the truth. Fogerty signed away the rights to his music – TWICE. Nobody's fault but his. And he's whined and bitched about it for fifty years. Look at what happened with ACME, his Rickenbacker.. He GAVE it away to a kid. He says now "It was missing for forty four years". More bullshit. He found it years ago at Norm's Rare Guitars and couldn't bring himself to buy it. Norm wanted $90,000 and offered it to him for FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS off so it could go back to it's home and nope, Fogerty wouldn't buy it. Brilliant American songwriter and a real dick of a human being.

Even if you were to get all the money back plus a little more you can never get all those lost years back. CCR was the greatest band ever in my teen years. Thanks John for all that great music.

I recall hearing that pretty much the same thing happened to Queen, who were paid next to nothing for quite some time, until they renegotiated their contract. The Bay City Rollers too, whose manager grew very rich off the back of them.
