The Geoff Emerick book is really good. Not just about the music, but the personalities. Apparently John, George and Ringo were a bit aloof, but Paul said good morning to everyone, knew the names of all the sound workers. And the only one to stay behind at lunch and ate his sack home food with the sound assistants.
I first heard Sgt Peppars on my 1st LSD trip..thats the way to hear it ! This track in particular was incredible. Except the harp at the start of She's Leaving Home which I heard in a Time-warp: I heard every vibration of each string like Time had slowed down. Still baffles me that that could happen even on a trip
I just discovered something fascinating by accident. After watching this video, I went to Apple Music to play A Day In The Life, and Apple had the credits for every symphony musician. David McCallum appears as a violinist. Not only was he an actor, he also was a classically trained musician, and violin was one of his instruments. He in fact had recorded several instrumental albums. So Illya Kuryakin is on a Beatles record.
Great piece, but can’t help thinking that they were saying “Om” instead of “hum” as the first ending. It would make more sense, and sounds more like it.
Medleys are the best Beatles songs, for short attention span listeners, i.e. Abbey Road. Honestly they could have, and should have, made more of the mixed songs. This sort of presaged the thematic albums that came in the early 70s like Thick as a Brick, Yes Relayer, Dark Side of the Moon etc.

Jesus Christ, Ringo really is a time traveler. "Hire half an orchestra twice" is off the charts subconscious genius, joking or no.

There are people who said that last cord is the inspiration for the Apple Mac power up/start up sound.

Great video but I don't see what rules there are that were broken. This wasn't songwriting per se but it was sound creation and music making.
